This unit clearly functioned to specs and is a great buy. I have purchased many Brother products because of their reliability and great free technical support over the phone - even after warranty period. Could not understand how to make several features work after studying printed instructions - even in the manual provided on the enclosed disk. Had to call Customer (Technical) Support. These folks were a great help. They didn't charge me. They even e-mailed me technical material to show me how to solve many of my problems.Had Brother better made their furnished instructions, they could save many customer support hours. EdGeb

I'm a teacher and I bought this so I could make last minute prints and copies for school. The fan is loud, like others have said. We keep the printer in our home office so it's not a problem, and when the printer is in deep sleep it's silent. I've had problems with canceling print jobs. When you print in Word it automatically sets it to print the same number of copies as you printed before, and I've made that mistake a few times. I haven't had problems with scanning. Ink refills are cheap on Amazon, better than at your office supply store. All in all, good printer, good price.

I am very happy with this printer. It meets my expectations very well, not to mention duplex printing capability that saves me paper, money, and space :)

HP Photosmart 6510 All-in-One Printer Reviews

HP Photosmart 6510 All-in-One Printer Actual Reviews

I've had a HP 7000 series printer and it was wonderful. But unfortunately it was old and broke down after 5 years. Then I bought this one particular. Wow! The images come out excellent as if from a studio like Sears Portraits or JcPenny, but only in the event you use HP Premium Plus Photo Paper Soft Gloss. I used the Advanced photo paper glossy it came with and the photos came out darker and pixeled. I did have one problem although, as soon as I hooked it up on my Mac (which was so easy to hook up) when i started printing immediately all of the images on the soft gloss paper looked weird, like the ink wasn't sticking on the photo paper. I was upset and worried, but waited the next day and printed the photos once again and they were amazing! I think it necessary time to set into the printer.

It never ever occurred to me to believe of a printer in terms of noise. The workplace comes to a stop when this thing goes to operate. Not only is it LOUD when it prints, but after every printing it spends yet another 20 seconds resetting some thing inside and that task is LOUD. My desk is about ten feet away and if the phone rings, I have to cancel the print job just before answering the phone. The very first time I utilized it, a guy came over from an adjoining office to ask, "What is going on in right here?". It is tough to believe HP would allow such an obnoxious device visit market place. I got the printer for "free" when I purchased a pc so I guess I can't complain too significantly. If I had actually purchased it, it would have been returned the very identical day.I called HP to see if this was normal. Right after properly over 30 minutes on hold in a buyer "support" phone tree I hung up. I'd have given this two stars (it really is reasonably fast and prints well) but the lack of support drops it down to one particular star - even lower if there was the option. This printer uses 25% much more ink than our Deskjet (also from HP - I'd give it a 5 star rating). Ink is so expensive that you must certainly take that into consideration.

Logitech Specialist Presenter R800 with Green Laser Pointer Client Reviews

Logitech Professional Presenter R800 with Green Laser Pointer Reviews

I had to return this to the manufacturer for a refund. Why? There is a button called "start presentation" that alternately generates an ESC and F5.the ESC takes you out of presentation mode, the F5 restarts the presentation from the beginning. This button is very near the "back" button and I accidentally push it approximately once an hour. This completely messes up my presentation - and there is no way to disable the button. Thus I cannot use this during a professional presentation - it is just about guaranteed to create an unprofessional event for me, and I do presentations for a living. So as much as I love every other part of this device, I had returned it to Logitec and ask my money back.

I just got this presenter right before flying off for an important conference. It was fantastic. The room I had to speak in was much larger than I'd anticipated, with the AV guy and equipment all the way at the back, and this presenter worked flawlessly. I didn't have to worry about it at all. I'd almost gotten the R400 instead but am so glad I chose this one because the timer function is so useful. I'd forgotten that I'd turned it on but when it vibrated at 5 minutes before the end, it allowed me to make sure that I ended at exactly the right time. It was wonderful to be able to keep an eye on the time without needing to turn my wrist over to look at my watch (awkward when 200+ people are watching you). I have quite small hands and was worried that it'd be too big but it felt comfortable to hold, the indented buttons were easy to find. There are smaller presenters but this felt so comfortable and easy to use, it was an invisible part of my presentation and really helped me get through the whole thing effortlessly. Definitely worth the extra money in my opinion.

The Logitech R800 is a great presenter. I use it to give presentations to groups of 40-60 people in conference or meeting room settings. I have not tested the range because I am usually within 20' of the computer. The buttons have a crisp feel and work well with my big hands. These products are pretty simple but I am happy with this particular model and would recommend it.

It works great. I love the features. I didn't think I would use the timer much but find that it is very handy. The only con would be that it fits a little awkward in my hand but that is a minor issue. I would reccomend.

I have had this printer for several months and have only recently been printing stuff on a regular basis. The cartridge says it is good for 2300 pages, and that goes by quickly. The replacement cost is $83+ dollars, which is nearly half the cost of the printer. That is roughly 3.6 cents a page. I suppose this is okay, but $83 seems high to me. Must be fantastic technology involved.Otherwise the printer works very fine.

I learned after receiving this printer that I can't use it. The driver is not included on the disc supplied, and since this particuler computer is not online, the HP techies have told me they cannot help me. All I asked for is a driver on a disc that I can install myself, but no dice. There is a reason the computer I wanted the printer for is not online, yet they insist I must get it online or they cannot give me a driver. So much for HP tech support! Now I'm stuck with a printer and extra cartridges that I can't use.

Longetivity is always valued in a printer. So it's a little hard to rate this printer when it's brand new. But at least at the cost, if it only makes it 2-3 years (seems to be the industry standard), at least it's not a total loss. But the machine installed easily, and prints well. The only weekness I immediately noticed is the paper tray - namely, some very thin plastic parts. As someone who is frequently opening and closing the paper tray to achieve double-sided copies, I hope there will be no breakages. But again, I think most printers today are going to have flimsy paper trays.

Panasonic KX-TG7645M DECT 6.0 Link-to-Cell by way of Bluetooth Cordless Phone with Anwering Program, Metallic Gray, 5 Handsets Reviews By Consumer

Reviews Of Panasonic KX-TG7645M DECT 6.0 Link-to-Cell via Bluetooth Cordless Telephone with Anwering Technique, Metallic Gray, five Handsets

This was a seriously pricey phone for our family, nevertheless it had every function I wanted. I needed to be able to wall mount the base and answer calls from the base for when the kids lose the phones. I will not have to buy expensive replacement batteries. I easily paired with my cellphone and download more than 100 numbers to the shared phonebook. Then I could go back in and easily remove the ones I did not need. Once it was paired, I also was able to receive cellular phone calls through the unit. I heard the mobile phone ring very first, followed by the panasonics. The ring volume could be lowered, but I love being in a position to have it loud so I can come across the telephone that's fallen behind the cushion. The intercom system functions fantastic. It really is simple to customize each phone with a more descriptive name like kitchen or bedroom and you'll be able to easily intercom with no drilling by way of menus. I love being in a position to turn off the ringer in the bedroom just at night,. You can set a turn off time and turn on time. The only thing I haven't tried but is transferring a call to yet another telephone. I know there are nonetheless loads a lot more functions available, but I'm seriously happy with my acquire.

This telephone does almost everything right. The screen is nice and big, generating it simple to see for caller i.d. It has excellent talking caller i.d. It hooks up to and syncs with up to two cell phones. Its a actually excellent thought, but poorly executed. Until recently, I always viewed Panasonic because the king of cordless phones. My several year old 5.8 ghz model worked wonderful, but with the batteries wearing out, I decided to upgrade a couple of months ago. Because then, I've been through three sets of Panasonic cordless phones--this will be the final of the three. I've returned all of them because Panasonic has done a thing for the speakerphones exactly where the top quality is just not there anymore. The sound good quality is really a bit tinny, but even worse, the speakerphones are not complete duplex. I never had these sorts of problems with my old 5.8 Ghz. Its unfortunate, because other than the poor speakerphone performance, this can be a darn good phone (although the voice quality is not up to par with the Siemens gigaphones--see recent review of the Siemens S795, which, by the way, has true full duplex). In the event you never or rarely use the speakerphone function, you'll like this telephone just fine. I use the speakerphone for almost every call, so its failings in this regard is really a difficulty for me. Unfortunately, its not "defective," and I can not just return it to acquire a replacement that will cure the problem--the "defect" in this telephone will be the design--the other two "new" 6.0 DECT Panasonic phones I recently tried had exactly the same poor design--Panasonic's "digital duplex" just is not the exact same, or as very good as, true full duplex. Also note, Panasonic sort of hides the fact that these phones are not full duplex--they just let you know that the phones are "digital duplex," with no actually explaining what this really is, and without telling you that "digital duplex" is not true "full duplex," and there will be times when employing the speakerphone exactly where both parties are not able to talk in the exact same time (single duplex), which is very annoying.

Hi every oneI just received my telephone and it looks beautiful and factory sealed. It has some great capabilities which I was looking for in my house telephone. The seller I ordered it from was "The Price Pro". Their service was excellent. They even shippped my order the identical day I placed my order with Amazon. I tried my new phone even though it really is not fully charged however and it sounds great. The handsets are comfortable. It is possible to use speaker telephone from every single handset and also from the base unit and the sound is good. I referred to as a friend and my friend couldn't even tell we had been on speaker phone.

Panasonic KX-TG7645M DECT 6.0 Link-to-Cell by way of Bluetooth Cordless Telephone with Anwering Technique, Metallic Gray, 5 Handsets Genuine Reviews

We had previously tried using GE's cellular docking system and it was a horrible product. We purchased this after seeing all the good reviews right here on Amazon and elsewhere on the net. When we unpacked and set everything up, we connected our cell phones (through bluetooth) and everything was operating as advertised! We genuinely like the talking caller ID feature. This comes by means of on all handsets. Also, when screening a call, the message being left may be heard on all handsets with no any interaction. We have iphone 3Gs's and when a cell call comes in, the custom ringtones ring at the handsets. An additional great feature of this model is the capability the base station has to utilize power from the handset in the event of a power outage. Call good quality is clear with calls over land-line or cell. The only cons worth mentioning may be the max volume is not actually quite loud and there is no audible alert for answering machine messages (visual flashing light only). All in all, we extremely advise this!

Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Graphing Calculator Buyer Reviews

Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Graphing Calculator Reviews By Customer

I will admit up front that I am an HP RPN snob -- I am 46 years old and have been making use of RPN given that I was a college student. So making use of ANY algebraic calculator can be a bit of a challenge for me.That said, this calculator is required by almost each and every student from 8th grade by means of college level classes and so I reluctantly plunked down the money and purchased one of these for my son. I hate it and I personally will not use it. IF I have to make use of a thing that calls for algebraic mode I use the HP 35s Scientific Calculator and this review is mainly in contrast towards the HP 35S (it would be unfair to compare it to my trusty HP 15Cs because those long went the way from the dodo bird). The TI is much heavier and bulkier than the HP 35-S. Even so, being created completely of low-cost plastic and not having its own protective case, it's going to get clobbered in my son's backpack -- which typically weighs a good 20 pounds on any offered day. But he has to have it so what option does he have...The keys are noisy and spongy compared to the HP (which has a good soft and crisp "tick" sound).I have a blue calculator (my son likes blue) and many in the labels are a lighter shade of blue printed on blue plastic -- what human aspects genius came up with *that* 1. You invest 5 minutes wanting to read the button labels just attempting to come across the function you want. The TI is lacking numerous with the native "math" functions which make the HP so appealing. If you are doing statistics, carrying out permuations and combinations on the HP is really a built in function. You are able to program them on the TI but that takes time and yet another degree of ability that most students won't have. And even though Algebraic calculators normally have the benefit of having the more intuitive "=" sign, this calculator doesn't even have that going for it -- you might have to hit just like an RPN calculator. In case you want to have an algebraic mode calculator, great. But why make it as counter intuitive as an RPN calculator? The HP 35S, which does so a lot more from a functional standpoint, can operate in each RPN and Algebraic mode so you, in essence, get 2 calculators in 1 and considerably more flexibility. The upshot: If you possess a kid in school, you most likely will need to acquire certainly one of these. The schools do not really give you a option. Nevertheless, if you're acquiring this for yourself and want a calculator that is going to last awhile and do what you really need it to do, go for the HP 35S[NCJAR]

This calculator is a solid performer but tries to do too much with apps, etc when it just doesn't have the horsepower. I use this calculator strictly when I have to and only for math - e.g., exams and tests when I'm not allowed to use anything better. Still, even then, I feel like I'm in a time warp - seriously - a mini B&W screen for working with math, but high-res color displays for making phone calls?IMHO, the best graphing calculator, by far, is FluidMath (MathJournal is a clunkier option but handles higher level differential equations). Of course, FluidMath (& MathJournal) require Tablet PCs, but once you get over that hurdle, you'll never go back. With FluidMath (and to a much lesser extent, MathJournal) you just hand-write your math on a virtual sheet of paper on your TabletPC. You can write multiple expressions on the same page, create and compare one or more graphs, solve equations, copy typeset versions of your handwriting to Word, etc. Of course, Tablet PCs are bigger than the TI-84, but as a student I would be carrying a laptop with me anyway, so that doesn't really matter. Some of my classmates think it's cheating to use FluidMath, but several have put a Tablet PC on their Christmas list. My teacher didn't know about FluidMath, but now uses it daily during class on his electronic whiteboard. It's a brave new world that I've started in my school. So if you want to experience the future (and, ironically, the past) then get a tablet PC with FluidMath and start handwriting your equations the way God intended for you. And, please -- if there are any Department of Education people reading this - please get FluidMath accredited for exams so I can sell my TI to someone who will appreciate the last dinosaur.

I purchased this calculator for my daughters pre-calculus class. Sheused the tutoral to become familiar with the product and found it very easy to use. If I had to purchase it again, I would have gone with the silver edition to obtain more memory. I found the best price through this sight and delivery came before we had expected.

Reviews Of Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Graphing Calculator

I was really satisfied with the purchase. I was a bit sceptical about acquiring a refurbished electronic product. The price tag was great, the service was wonderful and we are extremely satisfied with the product. I'd purchase from this vendor again without hestiation.

Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Deluxe Bundle Sheet-Fed Scanner Reviews

Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Deluxe Bundle Sheet-Fed Scanner Reviews

So far, I love this machine! I originally bought it to digitize my book collection (I recently retired and will be moving into a travel trailer: there is no way I'm giving up my books but there is no way I'm going to have room for them all). I've done about 3500 scans so far (about 1000 were test scans while learning how to use the scanner and testing for settings to use) and the machine hasn't even started breathing heavily. The foot print is small when folded up and doesn't increase much when opened up. Firing up the machine is as simple as opening the top cover. Opening out the document out tray is optional. Not using the tray allows more documents to be fed without the already ejected documents getting in the way of the outgoing ones. The document out tray also sets slightly above the desktop so it isn't necessary to clear all paperwork from the desktop to use the scanner. It's most impressive attribute has been its incredible speed compared to using a flat bed scanner with minimal misfeeds or jams (maybe one every 200-300 scans, mostly my fault). So far, I've scanned one book and a dozen magazines with good results. On magazines, I spend more time cutting off the spine with a rotary paper cutter than I do actually scanning. The same will be almost be true with books (mostly perfect bound paperbacks) once I get my band saw set up to cut off the spines (changing blades is a pain). I found that it is necessary to separate each page from the next prior to loading them (in batches of 20) into the scanner to avoid misdeeds or jams. Even so, once I separated 20 pages and loaded them into the s1500. I was able to get the next batch ready about the time the previous batch was finished scanning. Overall, it took between five and ten minutes to scan a 100 page magazine or book, a figure I'm happy with.Post edit: While scanning magazines, I've found I can put up to 140 pages (70 sheets) into the scanner without so much as a gentle belch from the scanner. I've found it's much faster to just fan the pages along the cut edge, put them all into the scanner, and deal with any paper jams that may occur because a couple pages were'nt quite separated. The jams are rare and when they do occur, are easy to deal with.Post edit: Anyone buying this scanner to scan books, be aware that using a saw to cut off the spines is not a good option. After scanning over a hundred books, I found that paper dust on the inside of the glass camera plattens was causing streaks in color and grayscale scans. The problem was caused by my using a bandsaw to cut off the book spines. The teeth of the blade left a fine, friable edge that shed paper dust like a long-haired dog in Spring. No amount of cleaning would eliminate that dust from the cut edge since more would crumble off in the scanner. Because of the large amount of dust, some managed to work its way inside the machine even though I didn't use compressed air (which is forbidden in the manual) to clean it (the band saw also accumulated huge amounts of dust and glue would get on the blade and tires; I had to spend unacceptable amounts of time frequently cleaning glue off the blade and the tires of the saw). I bought a guillotine type paper cutter and that almost eliminated the dust problem. When I called Fujitsu about getting it cleaned inside, they agreed to clean it under warranty but said the scanner was intended only for office work and not for book scanning since the cut edges crumbled so much but they did agree to "clean" it under warranty (they said the cameras were sealed units and would have to be replaced). After receiving the unit back, I cleaned the small amount of dust that accumulated in the scanner after each book (probably no more than 300 or more office documents would have left behind) with a small vacuum (per Fujitsu's suggestion) and a small brush design for dusting off LCD TV screens. The unit has been working fine ever since. If, after several hundred more books, dust gets into the scanner cameras again, I'll just get a second s1500 for scans other than books and save this one for books only. The streaks did not show up in B&W scans, which is what I use for the body of the book and only a small amount in the covers, which I didn't really care about as long as they are readable so the machine would still be acceptable for book scans. Quality of magazine and book scans is not perfect but is still pretty good, depending on the material being scanned. Because magazines are loaded with color and grayscale illustrations, it is necessary to use the Auto settings and Normal compression to get decent scans. Text tends to be a bit on the faint side. As good as the OCR is it is still unbelievably slow so searchable PDFs are out of the question for this application. This means it will be impossible to read scans on anything other than a computer screen or a large e-book reader. Since I don't plan on scanning magazines until after I've read them, I won't be viewing them except on a large computer screen so that's not a problem for me. The quality of book scans depends on if there are any color or grayscale illustrations on the page. Exposure can be set only when doing black and white scans. Most so called black and white illustrations, even line drawings, are actually grayscale and will look horrible scanned on the black and white setting. If a page is all text, it will look fine when scanned with the auto setting or a grayscale setting. Any kind of illustration will cause the text to be fainter, especially color illustrations. Since most books limit color illustrations to separate pages and the covers so if it proves to be a problem, I can always scan the color pages separately and concatenate them in Adobe, an easy process. I plan on reading my scanned books on an e-book reader but I'm waiting for the prices to come down and the features to improve, such as adding zoom, backlighting (or, if not possible with e-ink, front lighting), etc. I won't be in any hurry for one for at least a year or two so I can wait. I'm guessing it will only take a year or so.Post edit: I've found using Color and setting compression to 3 gives slightly better results with magazines. Even though the OCR for making searchable PDFs is slow, the desirability of being able to search magazines (all are tech or history related) outweighed my impatience. Even then, the overall process is much faster than it would have been using a flatbed without OCR.Of course, the intended purpose of the s1500 is office paperwork reduction. Trying to scan all my receipts, statements, etc, on my Epson was painfully time consuming and did not always yield good results. Concatenating files was a pain involving copying and pasting into a Word doc, then converting to PDF with a virtual printer. The s1500 can be set to either scan pages into individual files or concatenated ones. The speed and quality is amazing. I emptied a drawer full of paperwork I had been procrastinating on scanning in about an hour. From now on, as soon as I get receipts, etc, that need scanning and tossing, I'll do it the instant I get them. It is so much more convenient and faster than using the Epson. Most said that the machine was not suitable for scanning photos (I only have a thousand or two that need scanning). Based on the results and techniques of one reviewer, though, I decided to try scanning some photos. I was able to get slightly better quality from my old Epson 1660 Photo but each photo required one prescan, setting the scan area (basically, cropping the prescan), a second prescan to fine tune the scan area settings, reset the exposures settings, then , finally, scanning the darned thing. Every few photos, I had to take time to clean the platen (every once and a while I had to dismantle the machine and clean the underside of the platen and blow out the dust that somehow makes its way inside). With the s1500, actual scan time was maybe twice as fast as the Epson, but all I had to do, once the initial settings were made, was load about 10 or so photos into the machine, press a button (the only button), wait a bit for the machine to digest them, then load in some more photos from the same batch. The only setting that needed changing between batches was the file name. The machine would automatically append the photo number after the batch name on each photo. The result was I could scan ten photos on the s1500 in the time it took to scan one, maybe two (if I stayed focused; I have ADD--me, focused?), on the Epson. As I mentioned, the quality of photos scanned with the s1500 is less than what I got from the Epson when scanned at similar settings (600 dpi and similar compression). File size was larger on the Epson. Still, one almost has to look at the on screen images side by side on my 22" LCD widescreen monitor to see the difference. When viewed on my 32" LCD widescreen TV, the pictures look fine from a distance of five to six feet. Scanning photos on my Epson was so slow, I was considering buying an ADF photo scanner but the ones I checked out didn't exactly get sterling reviews. I was seriously considering farming the job out, no matter the cost but the quality of photos scanned on the s1500 is good enough and the speed of the scans so fast, I'll probably do all of them on the s1500. Any photos of exceptional value or I plan on printing enlargements of I can also scan on the Epson (both of them).A bonus use I hadn't anticipated involves my current project to digitize my CD collection. I kept all my CDs in a huge 400 CD changer (which was maxed out) so to save space, I filed all the CD covers in binders with photo album pages and tossed the jewel boxes. When I move, I won't be able to take the CD changer with me because, besides being huge and full, I would have to remove the CDs from the changer anytime I moved the travel trailer, a pain in the (ahem) I don't need. So I'm ripping them all to my computer. The binders with the CD covers in them also take up too much room and it's too easy to spill the covers from the binders so I've been scanning them with the Epson, pasting the resulting JPEGs into a Word doc (I didn't have Acrobat at the time), then using a virtual printer to convert the Word doc into a PDF. Talk about time consuming!I tried pulling staples and cutting the CD covers to individual pages and scanning them with the s1500. Most of the time, this worked well at blazing speed. Covers that were multifold rather than a stapled booklet required single sided scanning and being fed one page at a time but it still went much faster than using the Epson. The only times I was forced to resort to using the Epson was when an illustration and/or text spanned more than a couple of pages. I found it was necessary to first scan to JPEGs, then combine them in Adobe. Scanning directly into PDF resulted in lower scan quality and considerably larger file sizes. Again, even with the extra steps, the process was amazingly fast. I can do at least ten covers in the time it used to take to do one using the Epson. The quality is generally better. The deskew feature worked like a champ...most of the time. Every once in a great while, usually on a page with a predominance of graphics, it would lock on a near horizontal line and actually skew a page going through correctly. The fix is easy; turn off the deskew feature and rescan. The biggest complaint I have concerns the software. I shelled out the extra $25 for the Deluxe package but, so far, the only extra software I've used is ABBYY FineReader. It works reasonably well but I do not expect to get a lot of use from it. I also installed Card Minder and Snap Scan Organizer. I get very few business cards and it's not that big a deal to manually transfer the info to my phone book. I would rather do that than maintain two separate data bases anyway. I already have a lot of data stored using Windows folder system and have been satisfied with that system so I don't need the Snap Scan Organizer. Again, having only one data base is more efficient. I read in a review importing data into SSO is a pain so why bother. For that reason, I haven't even bothered to install Rack2-Filer. Again, these are my needs and others may be more likely to have use for the extra software.Post edit: When installing the software, the installer sets them up to start when booting the computer. This noticeably slows overall computer time. Since all I ever use is SnapScan Manager, I removed all the other programs from the startup sequence. I tried removing SnapScan Manager from th startup sequence but found when I fire up the scanner, it doesn't automatically open the Manager--I had to go into the start menu to open it--so I put it back into the startup sequence.Another really big gripe is not being able to adjust scan exposure on anything other than black and white. That is a HUGE problem. There should be an option to change the default levels in the auto settings, especially since they tend to be a bit on the light side. The carrier sheet is a joke. I tried using it to scan the CD covers and found out one has to preset the page size in. Otherwise, the entire carrier is included in the document. I found it to be one heckuvalot easier and faster to just cut the covers apart than to use that idiot carrier, preset the page size, then still have to crop the pages in Adobe. The only use I foresee is when scanning REALLY fragile documents. Even ripped documents are more easily taped than scanned using the carrier sheet. And there is always the Epson I can fall back on.The documentation that comes with the machine is not as good as I would like. One receives two sizeable manuals, set up and safety precautions, but each one has only a few pages in each of several languages. I cut out the few English pages, scanned them, then tossed the manuals. There is a more extensive manual accessed from ScanSnap manager or the right click menu in the tray icon. I found it curious that the manuals, when instructing one to install the software on the Snap Scan disk, do not tell one to also install Adobe. Fortunately, even this computer challenged, old broad was able to figure that one out on her own. Navigating through the documentation is a pain because it is broken up into umpteen dozen separate documents that forces one to keep going back to the menu to go to another topic before continuing. It would have been one heckuvalot easier if it was one continuous document that was indexed. I did find a PDF manual online ([...]) that was set up that way. I've since found it was on the installation disk but accessing it is inconvenient.Use of the final menus in a scan was a pain to figure out. I bypassed them until I figured them out (sorta).A minor complaint is the brick power supply. Even when the machine is turned off, the brick is still drawing power. Add that to that all the power the other bricks my equipment use (seven total) and we are talking about a noticeable dent in the annual power bill. I would have been willing to pay more for a machine that had an onboard power supply, even if it was a tad bigger, so the AC could be turned off when the machine was not in use.Despite my complaints, I'm giving this machine five stars simply because it has wildly exceeded my expectations and, due to the time it is saving me, worth every penny I paid for it, especially since Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard ($236 on Amazon) was packaged with it. Keep in mind this is not a do all machine but it does what it was intended (and then some) exceedingly well.

My girlfriend told me that the level of paper clutter I had was unacceptable, so I began looking for a solution. I've found that for bills this device works great. For some old papers (scientific) that I scanned in, I've found a bit more difficulty. More often than not, things work great. Unfortunately, there are some paper jams. When these occur, I find that the software's simplicity works against it and it's not easy to recover from easily. Also, it takes some effort to remove the jam. But, given how rare this happens, I can still recommend this product. The speed is also amazing!

MBA

I scanned thousands of pages in a single weekend. It is as easy as loading each statement, and hitting the scan button. If you have the SnapScan Manager open in the foreground, it goes right into the application as a PDF. Otherwise, it asks you where you want to scan to.The SnapScan Manger, which scans into searchable PDFs, and lets you organize documents and easily verify each scanned page. Out of thousands of scanned pages, I had 2 misfeeds. Both were the problem with the page being scanned. Some very lite-weight pages needs the translucent "carrier" to make it through properly. But that also lets you scan receipts.I double-checked the fronts and backs of the first several hundred pages, but by the end I was fully confident it didn't miss a single page. Even then you can look at the mini-previews in the SnapScan Manager. The most amazing thing about this device is the duplex scanning. It scans both front and back simultaneously. It is blistering fast!!!!!!!!This was an amazing investment!!! I am close to paperless!!!The only potential con is the lack of Twain driver support (no direct scanning from apps). But since the SnapScan manager saves directly to PDF, Excel, Powerpoint, Word, etc, it is a minor trade-off.

This scanner installed and worked just as easily as advertised - I have not used the software filing system that came with it, but it works so well without it, I may not even try it. I have had no complaints and have scanned many different types of documents from business cards to legal documents, without a problem. Much better than the all in one printers as it is so much faster and reliable. Highly recommend.

If you're not a math genius (like my husband), this is a great little app for your Kindle. All the basic functions are there, as well as percentage, square root, 1/x, memory, etc. You can also see the history of your calculation. In addition, results extend many decimal places (one result I got showed the answer to 16 decimal places). The numbers and symbols all match up nicely to corresponding keys on the Kindle.Sure, if you want to figure the orbit of Pluto around the Sun in the year 2525, this is not the calculator you would use.....although my husband might be able to figure out a way. But for everyday needs, this is a good little calculator. Sitting somewhere shopping at Amazon on your Kindle? Just use the calculator to figure how much all those great books will cost!Someone on here said not to buy the calculator, and to use some secret method on your Kindle. Well, I tried his method and my Kindle froze up and I had to re-start it. I then came here and bought the calculator, as I'd rather pay 99 cents for an EASY TO USE calculator than to attempt some alternative method that is a pain to use and causes problems.

Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500M Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for the Macintosh Reviews

Simply the best scanner I've ever used (and I've used a lot of 'em). Works better than advertised. You can jam it if you try to (i.e., force a bunch of miss-match wrinkled old papers and sizes) but it is remarkably easy to clear and the software is smart enough to help you restart your scan where you left off so if you're at the end of a 50 page run you don't have to start over from scratch. You will not believe the speed and quality of this tiny package. It's so good it scans the the backside, mirror image of very thin gas pump receipts, go figure. The Adobe Pro version is a bundle but for the life of me I can't see what options they have disabled. I'm relatively new to the Mac side of things but have been in IT and the PC world for 20 years. Anyway, it does everything I've every needed and it does it better than the PC ever could. If you do the math they are either giving the scanner away or giving the software away. Works for me.Spend the money and don't look back!

I've never felt compelled to write a review for anything I've purchased on Amazon until now. This is an exceptional product...I've scanned all my tax information, business records and important information to PDF for several years now, but it required I lug my documents to Kinko's or use other scanners that I have had available to me. Since the feeders on other scanners would only accept one paper size in a batch, I would tape several smaller receipts to 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of paper, or scan the documents one at a time and then merge them into a single PDF document later-either way it was a very labor intensive process. I finally decided to buy my own scanner which I'll use primarily for text documents. Every scanner I've used before has been a pain. Not any more...Within 5 minutes of receiving it I had installed the software, updated the software for Snow Leopard and was ready for my first scan. My first impressions: It is much smaller than I expected (fits nicely on my desk), has a well made feel/fit and finish and the color goes nicely with my mac setup. After setting up a couple different profiles (DPI, color, gray or BW, duplex, etc) I loaded several different different size documents and pressed the single blue scan button on the front of the machine. Seconds later I had a new PDF show up in my selected folder. The pages of the pdf were straight with none of the slant that I get from most sheet feeders I've used on scanner before. Each scanned document was the correct size and not forced to fit on an 8 1/2 x 11.Here are the pros of the amazing scanner:-Fast & quiet-Scans both sides of a document at the same time for duplex-Auto rotates pages so that up is up-Automatically fixes pages that load slanted through the feeder-Auto sizing-Scans multiple size documents in one scan batch-Senses if multiple pages feed at the same time and stops the scan job allowing you to correct the problem and continue scanning into the same document if you wish-Can scan to Word, Excel or OCR-Easily configure different profiles for different types of scanning-2 click selection of a new profile from the Dock-Zero confusing buttons on the hardware-PDF compression settingsOne minor con:-It would be nice to be able attach the scanner to an Airport Extreme or Time Capsule and connect to multiple computers wirelesslyIn short this scanner seems to fix every single gripe I've had about every other scanner I've ever used.

This small footprint, relatively inexpensive scanner is faster than any of the 'all-in-one" scanners in use in many small offices. 30 sheets per minute seems very fast. The scan quality is excellent. Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 for the Mac is bundled with the scanner, along with the useful CardIris. If purchased separately, these programs would cost more than the ScanSnap, so the bundle is a bargain. My only quibble is with the instructions or lack there of. Operating directions for the hardware are very brief, with little elaboration and the diagrams for setup are not clear. ScanSnap Manager has no instructions. CardIris didn't load on my first installation try, which created problems. I had to reinstall and everything worked fine thereafter.4 of 5 stars based on the small footprint, scanning speed, bundled software, reasonable price. One star deducted for limited instructions.

Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500M Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for the Macintosh Reviews Full of Functionality

I know plenty of people have rated the Fujitsu S1500M as an excellent scanner. I am just here to add my praise. I have put some serious hours on this scanner, and it has never once skipped, stopped, or failed. I fed my entire paper life to this machine in a matter of 2-3 months earlier this year. I converted pretty much every piece of paper from my life for the past 10 years into PDFs and JPEGs. I'm only 28, so I'm sure some people have much more paper than I do, but I scanned every bill, receipt, picture, recipe, letter, user manual, magazine (lots), and all kinds of other things, and only the super-rare "two pages stuck together" error. The best part is that the machine recognizes and stops itself on these rare occasions. It is practically impossible to imagine something working better than this machine. All settings, inlcuding the many for quality, B/W, color, front/back, multi-page, JPEG, OCR, and too many others to name, work perfectly. Not to mention that besides installing a very simple upgrade from Fujitsu for Snow Leopard and installing Acrobat Pro, it is pretty much plug 'n play. And in the unbelievable circumstance that you're not satisfied, well at least you get Adobe's Acrobat Pro PDF software (which is worth at least a couple hundred and which I have actually found to be pretty useful) for free. It made putting my entire paper life in a little book-sized box on my desk much easier than I anticipated. Well done, Fujitsu.

Dymo LetraTag Plus LT-100H Personal Label Maker Reviews

Dymo LetraTag Plus LT-100H Personal Label Maker Reviews By Customer

To start with, after about the third label it started printing any vertical line very faintly and with lines in it. The straight part of the L,P,H,etc. is barely visible. So of course a labeler that doesn't print well is worth nothing.Add on top of that the fact that the labels are so hard to peel that they require the patience and nerves of a neurosurgeon. I ended up getting out the tweezers. Because it's so hard to peel, the labels end up mangled and look horrible once you stick them. One more thing, even with the power adapter in, after you print a label a warning comes on saying low power. It does this with batteries too, so if you're using batteries (not a good idea) how do you know if it's really low on power?I've had this two days and it's being returned.

I had been thinking of buying a label maker for quite a while and picked up this product because of all the product features. You can print on different colored ribbons, magnetic ribbons, clear ribbons, or iron-on ribbons; the screen is very easy to read; there's an option for two-lined text; there are many cute symbols; the keyboard is easy to use. However, don't expect to use this product with batteries. I put in 4 brand-new AA batteries (they were common Energizer batteries), but the text came out faded and I received a low battery warning. After reading the troubleshooting guide, I found an extra AC adapter I had, plugged the label maker in, and the text came out just fine. However, the inability to work with batteries bumped my rating down to four stars.

HP Deskjet 3000 Printer Reviews Full of Functionality

I am a grad student, which means, generally speaking, I have a lot of things to print out. So I purchaced this item by the beginning of September, 2011. Though I couldn't use it wireless, I was quite satisfited with it since I could easily print something out in my room finally. Though I also realized soon that I would have to buy significant amount of ink cartridges, I was still somewhat happy with my printer. (What a clever profit-maximizing strategy, HP, by the way! Selling a printer rather cheaply, and expecting the continuous purchase of ink cartridges, which are quite expensive)Today, however, when I tried to print out one page, the message saying paper was stuck appeared on the small screen. I did my best in order to find the stuck paper, but I couldn't (FYI, I have used a lot of different printers in the public places, and whenever paper was stuck in them, it was me that got rid of it quickly. But this time was difficult. Almost impossible even for me.) I did my best, referring to the HP's instruction, and following it. But, after all, all of my efforts turned out to be useless. It is extremely annoying seeing the message again and again that there is paper to be removed from the printer but actually there is nothing to see.Very disappointed with this hp printer. Due to this stupid printer, I not only wasted my money, but also was agonized severely in the middle of the night.

Canon PIXMA MX870 Wireless Office All-in-One Printer Reviews By Customer

Canon PIXMA MX870 Wireless Office All-in-One Printer Reviews

I have been looking at all-in-ones casually for the last couple of years. After considerable research, I purchased the MX870. My old printer, a HP I purchased in 2000, still works well. With that in mind, here is what I was looking for in this purchase:- Primarily, I was looking for a good scanner that could also replace my existing printer should it fail since it is so old.- Easy to use scanning software- Duplex scanning was desired- Duplex printing was desired- Separate ink for each color- The ability to print in B&W even if a color ink is out- Print speeds were not a concern - this is for home use- Print quality was not much of a concern either - I haven't had a color cartridge for my current printer for 4 yrs- I don't print photos, so printing on photo paper/borderless printing/etc. are not attributes I researched (in my opinion, it is just easier and cheaper to upload them to a service and have them sent to you. In the rare instances I need pictures sooner than that, I go to CVS, which I think is still cheaper than printing from home.)So far the MX870 has lived up to my expectations. - Set up was very easy. I would say it took 30 minutes, including unboxing and setting up the wireless (and I was taking my time).- Scanning has been great. It scans really well from the feeder, and there are very easy to access options for color, dpi, etc. Last night I scanned a 25 pg document, front and back, and had no issues. - The software does not seem to be a resource hog. You can select exactly what you want to install on the CD (just drivers, scanning software, photo software, etc). I think this is great. For my laptop and desktop, I needed the scanning software, but was able to opt out of installing the photo software for now. For my netbook, I can easily just install the drivers, and none of the other software. - The scanning software is light on resources and easy to use. You scan something in, a window pops up so you can review it, rename it, etc. Couldn't be easier.- Print quality is fine. I have it set to print fast duplex by default and this results in a product that works for me. In the 4 days I've had it, I haven't tried to print it on normal or best quality, so I cannot speak to those results, but judging by the quality of the fast, I would assume it would work for most home users.- Copy is easy - no complaints.- Print speed is a little slow. As I stated above, I've only printed on Fast, but this printer's fast is definitely not any faster than my old HP - even with duplex printing turned off. If speed is critical, this may not be your best bet. For most home users I would suspect it prints fast enough for general use.I'll quickly mentioned the competition. Based on the criteria above, I was very seriously considering three other printers:(1) The HP 6500 wired for $150 or wireless for $200(2) The HP 8500 Pro wired for $200 wireless for $260(3) The Brother MFC 6490CW - $200 on sale at Office Depot, regularly $300(1) I decided against the HP 6500 wired because for $50 more you got wireless and duplex printing/scanning. I decided against the 6500 wireless because for $200, I could get the 8500 - from HPs better printer line - which even though it was wired, had more features and a higher quality scanner.(2) I decided against the HP 8500 despite the fact that it is: (1) recommended by CNET, (2) discounted through my employer, (3) I have enjoyed my current HP for a decade. The reason I did this was simply because there are just too many bad reviews. I know there are a lot of reviews for it - almost double the amount there are for this printer - but they seem to be too recurring: bad printer heads, failing after a couple months, bad software, driver issues with Windows 7 and XP, and the list just went on. Before buying the HP, I would read not only the reviews on Amazon, but also the reviews on CNET and [...]. After an hour of reading "stay away" and "do not buy!" I imagine you'll be as scared as I was.(3) I chose the Canon over the Brother because quite simply because it was cheaper on Amazon ($146) than the Brother on sale ($199, currently back to $299 it looks like) and it is much smaller. Both have great reviews all over the web, so without any reason to pick the more expensive Brother, I chose the Canon.I hope this review helps and I'll update this review if I encounter issues (my expectation is a printer of this cost should last at least 5 years).--- UPDATE ---2 of the 3 color inks have now run out and it still prints black/grey with no problems. A definite feature in my book. After a few months, I am happy to report I still have no issues with this purchase. The trial black ink is just about gone (comes with a small and large black ink tank) but overall, I would say it seems to use black ink efficiently. My history/comparison with color ink is limited so it's harder for me to say there.

I must preface this review by noting that I had a Pixma MX850 before this printer. I had no problems with it. I thought it was the best printer that I have ever owned. It printed beautifully from both PCs and from my IMAC. It excelled at photos and text. This printer is a better photo printer than plain paper printer. If you are going to print mostly letters, etc., this is not the best. Text is muted and as the customer service rep pointed out, that if you increase the ink on the page, which you have to do to make the text crisp, plain paper is going to be soggier. The text on standard print is rather muted. As a photo printer, it does an exceptional job with one caveat. You have to extensively adjust the settings. You can't just hit print and you can't even get away with just clicking high quality and then print. You will waste a lot of paper and ink to get the right setting. However, once that setting is found, it is an awesome result. I found the Pixma MX-850 much easier to set and you got good results. However, I have not found a way to set a default for the printing options which means for every print job, you have to adjust the settings. Every single time. The printer or its software, I don't know which, is not working correctly on duplex when using either OpenOffice or Iworks pages. The customer service rep blamed Openoffice when I called about this the first time. It also happened with Iworks pages and another reviewer on this board reported problems with MS Word and duplex. I think it is safe to say if you must use the duplex function, you shouldn't buy this printer. Since, I am presently doing brochures, I find it disappointing that a printer with duplex capability cannot be used for such.I was seriously considering returning this printer but I do like the photo work and the end result of my brochures. I have decided to buy another printer for text documents. I do know I can do much better than this for regular office printing. The printer is slow as molasses. It uses a lot of ink and the cartridges are expensive. It also hangs up occasionally or stalls mid-print and never resumes. This is not often but it does happen. This is my second Canon printer. I loved the MX 850 and had no problems with it. This printer lacks a lot, imo. If Canon could do what the MX 850 did well and what the Mx 870 does well, they would have an unbeatable printer. As it is, it doesn't make a great all-in-one printer.

Here's the short of it. Unless you plan on connecting this printer with a hard wire, I'd move on. The Wi-fi doesn't work well at all. We've had this printer 45 days and I'm ready to toss it off the balcony. It connects to the wi-fi, it takes the passcode, it gets an IP address, but it cannot be pinged from any other computer. Basically, you have to continue to reinstall the canon software over and over and over to get this printer to work. I'm not some average Joe user. I actually know a grreat deal about IT. The fact that this has ANY issues being pinged in today's technology market, makes it a piece of garbage. My son's hand held video game connect better than this cannon. Choose a printer manufacture and not a company that makes cameras.Does it print well? Well who the hell knows? I can't get it to setup with my network.

I think I purchased best electric item from Amazon is this Canon printer.I purchased Epson Workforce615 at Sam's club few weeks ago. It was good printer in first but when I print phtos, I saw lines no matter what I change settings or papers. I used epson photo papers but it was keep failing when I printing photos.I also noticed Workforce doesn't print Vellum paper (see through paper, you see often for wedding invitaion and such). When you do scrapbooking we sometimes use Vellum paper for make page fancy, or save cost to buy die cut machine.Unfortunately Workforce not feed the Vellum paper and customer support said "You can't print Vellum paper". So I returned Epson printer and purchased Canon from Amazon. It was cost $20 up but it away better quality photo print, I cannot tell difference from 1hour photo(seriously!).Using wi-fi no problem, so quick, you don't have to wait your PC read ink level. It's also print Vellum paper like charm!! It's looks very professionla finish.I really love this printer, now I know why people said "Canon printer is the best".If you looking for all in one printer, this won't regret you.I'm so happy for my new Canon printer!

Ordered this printer after reading the rave reviews here on Amazon.Unfortunately, the printer only lived up to its reviews for about 2 months of low usage, maybe 100 pages printed, a few items scanned. Then the printer stopped working (showed an error message). It became an expensive, heavy, somewhat esthetically attractive paper weight. The customer service was encouraging, done over email, and within a week they had scheduled a replacement to be shipped to me.When the refurbished replacement model arrived, I set it up, only to find that the wireless connection no longer worked. Then I restarted the printer in the hopes that would help and lo and behold, I received a new error message. Restarted it and heard a loud screech followed by a different error message! In sum, this is a pretty machine and its potential capabilities are enticing. But beware! If you get a dud, as I did, be prepared to be inconvenienced twice over when Canon sends you a replacement dud.Back to the reliable HP printers for me, wish I hadn't wasted $150 and hours of my time to learn that lesson.

Google Analytics Freelance

Do not buy it. I have had this printer for over a year and never been more frustrated by an electronic device. It has the following faults: Rapid depletion of ink cartridges, you will be buying these color cartridges by the case load and it will be VERY expensive. You will use colored ink even if you try NOT to as you can NOT select B&W to avoid the color when you do not need it. (there is a black cartridge among the colored ones that will go first even though another separate black is there also - stupid and redundant). Document feed is a joke - it never works and you will lose your mind hand feeding it so faxing becomes useless beyond a single page. Scanning is unreliable as the connection drops out and each page must be manually placed on the scanner as the feed is again lousy. So really every feature is a non-feature and really just a source of frustration.Look elsewhere for a flexible system - this is NOT it. You have been warned.

Canon PIXMA MX870 Wireless Office All-in-One Printer Reviews By Customer

I have owned HP printers for years, but the recent reviews on the HP models were not good, so I figured that I would give the Canon a try. I am very technically capable, so didn't expect any problems. The installation process is the worst in my experience, and I have installed probably 200+ printers both at work, home and for friends. A 75 page installation manual should tell you all that you need to know. The software was buggy and poorly designed. After several hours and several contacts with Canon tech support, it is still not working. I am ready to pack it up and send it back to Amazon.I am still a Canon customer for cameras, but never again for printers. Be warned!!

Fellowes 3229901 PowerShred 99Ci 17 Sheet Cross-Cut Shredder Reviews By Customer

Reviews Of Fellowes 3229901 PowerShred 99Ci 17 Sheet Cross-Cut Shredder

Jan 12, 2009 Review Update: We contacted Fellowes and they actually replaced the entire unit. I would like to note that Fellowes has now redesigned the plastic pin making it a) stronger and b) replaceable... that is.... it is now attached with 4 small screws instead of being molded to the wastebasket. My guess is that they were having to replace a lot of wastebaskets due to broken pins. The redesign is much improved over the old design. Closing the wastebasket is still a challenge as you have to give it a semi-forceful palm slap, but at least the pin appears more sturdy. One other note. The instructions indicate that you are to turn this until off after every use. We started having an issue with the unit running constantly, but Fellowes has replaced our unit and we are careful to turn it off after each use.Review Update: I would like to mention that closing the shredder waste basket can be a challenge. You have to apply a forceful push to the middle of the basket to get it to close properly. Unfortunately, this caused us to break the plastic pin on the waste basket that depresses the "basket in place" switch. I ended up having to insert a paper clip and some tape to keep the switch in the engaged position.Original Review: We needed a larger capacity shredder for our corporate office of about 10-12 people. We have a couple of smaller shredders, but they are noisy and have a smaller capacity. After reading the other reviews, I decided on this shredder.Shredder placement: We wanted this shredder to be easily accessible to our office. The primary users of this shredder decided to place it in the open area where there are about eight cubicles. To meet this requirement, the shredder could not be disruptive to the workforce.Based upon our actual users, they have not complained about it being excessively loud (certainly not that high pitched grinding associated with other shredders), it has not been disruptive to the work area, it is used everyday, it has not jammed and our shredder 'usage' has actually increased with this product. The waste capacity is satisfactory for our office (we have to empty the basket about once per week).Overall, our office has been extremely satisfied with this product and I would highly recommend it.

We received the shredder last week and have tested it. I'm very impressed. It is very quiet and fits nicely under the work-surface. The pocket on the side is a great place to store the manual and the oil. With those two things close by, there is little excuse for anyone in the office to be frustrated when lights illuminate or to avoid doing maintenance when it is needed.

Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Mobile Scanner Reviews

I had this up and running in less than 10 minutes. Scanned over 200 pages in less than a 1/2 hour. It is a lot smaller than I expected, but that just leaves more room on my desk. Great product, can't say enough about it. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with no problems.

Pros:I've only owned this scanner less than a week, but already I've scanned probably at least 1,000 pieces of paper, over half being front and back. The simultaneous duplex scanning is amazing, best idea ever for a scanner. This thing is very small, and the ability to power it from USB makes it even more portable. The design is great, how well it closes up and how that turns it off. The collapsible paper supports are a nice touch, too. I've only had I think 3 bad feeds so far, and 2 were because I didn't realize there were papers stapled together. It is extremely easy to remove a paper from the scanner if necessary. The software is pretty simple and straightforward, which is both a good and a bad thing. The auto color detection is a nice idea, and the color high compression mode is nice as long as any images don't need to be high quality, as it results in much smaller file sizes. It does a pretty good job, especially with the "Correct skewed character strings automatically" setting, of adjusting for skew. The auto rotation adjustment and ability to set the papers in face up or down and in any orientation is very handy. Being able to set a specific paper size is a cool feature, too, as it will halt if it detects something different from that, assuming it's due to an overlap from feeding more than one sheet at a time. What's really nice is in the event of an error, you can choose to discard everything scanned so far, save it, or continue scanning after clearing the error. I also appreciate that once it feeds all the sheets, it lets you add more and continue scanning and appends the file, and another nice touch is that this can be done via the button on the scanner as soon as you load more into it.Cons:A big issue I have is that when using "Auto Color Detection" or "Color" modes, any page it detects color on, including some B&W pages misidentified as having color, is lightened up. So while pages with no color have dark, crisp text/images, on the pages with color the B&W is very faded. If I scan in "Color high compression" mode, the text is normal, but the images are poor quality (compressed). I contacted support about this and they said nothing can be done. It resulted in my having to rescan a few hundred pages, and I have to constantly check it after every scan, especially since it doesn't always do it. I also have to routinely adjust the B&W brightness depending on the document, since some at normal are too dark and look like the text was written with a sharpie vs a pen, making it less sharp/crisp.The software minimizes when the scan starts, so if you need to make constant changes between scans you have to keep restoring it. It needs an option to stay visible.Needs portable software to be truly portable, as included software is massive and takes a while to install.Other thoughts:One feature I would love to see in the future is multiple (ideally at least 3-4) buttons on the scanner, each mappable to a separate scanning configuration, so you don't have to go into the software every time you need to change the settings for a different document.Update (4/23/11): I've now owned this scanner for about two months, and have probably scanned a total of 3,000+ pages, many front and back. After all this use, this scanner continues to perform like a champ, and all my original comments stand. Durability/longevity seem very good, and I look forward to using it for a long time yet.Update (12/21/11): After almost 10 months of ownership with a good amount of usage, I can say it is still working as it did on day one. It definitely seems like it will last. It also does a pretty good job for most of my document scanning needs. However, I have decided to lower my rating to 3 stars (maybe 3.5 rounded down, but I can no longer justify a 4-star rating). The reasons I have done so are as follows:- For the first time, I attempted to power it off of USB. To my disappointment, I could not get it to work, even when using a dual USB cable, plugged into two USB ports, one of which a USB 3.0 port (higher output).- It is terrible at scanning standard store receipts. It is near impossible to get them to feed through straight without crinkling or turning/slanting to one side or another. And even when you do manage to get it to feed through properly the scanner keeps cutting off one edge, resulting in a useless image. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to prevent this. I have had to resort to using my flatbed for receipts.

I bought this scanner to use with Mariner Paperless software on my Macbook Pro to store electronic receipts and documents. It works exactly as I hoped it would. I prefer the USB power option since I often do the scanning while sitting on the family room couch. Scanning goes a bit slower than with the power adaptor, but not enough to be an annoyance. I've had no compatibility/command issues with the software. It's literally plug and play, then unplug and store. Highly recommended.

Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Mobile Scanner Reviews Full of Functionality

Setup was simple and use was very intuitive. The speed, duplex capability, and overall functionality blew me away, especially for the price. I have now had it for almost two months and I am still bragging on it to friends. This machine does wonders. I have used the included software to import business cards, scan receipts, scan documents, scan photos. The paper volume in my home office has dropped dramatically. I was able to purge pound after pound of paper within the first week. The OCR functionality is also excellent.Without even reading the manual, you can get 90% of the functionality. Only a few things bothered me until I figured out how to do it. If you do a stack of mismatched paper lengths, it will assume all are the length of the initial sheet unless you HOLD DOWN the blue scan button until it starts blinking. Then it will do variable page lengths. The ability to adjust the "scan button" settings was fairly easy as well and useful. In short, both the software and the hardware are chock full of helfpul functionality and flexibility. Highly recommended.

Fellowes Shredder Oil, 12 oz. Bottle with Extension Nozzle Customer Reviews

I have read all the reviews & yes. I contacted Fellows & Royal they said you could use in a pinch regular vegetable cooking oil, but the main difference is there oil is much more refined & does not in any way smell like vegetable oil. So I decided to buy & see for my self. I did a side by side comparison. The cooking oil is much more brighter, heavier & has a distinctive smell. The Fellows is a much lighter oil. The Vegetable oil will go rancid & you'll start to smell it in time, many people have complained that when oiling the oil come out to fast..Here's the fix don't use a pair of scissors or a utility knife to cut the tip of the cap. Just use either a baby pin or a thumb tack to pierce the tip of the cap & then you can have control of how much oil you need to use. I used a med size baby pin & it's working great for me. FYI: If you have a Office Depot where you live. There own brand of oil is a refined soybean based. For $5.00 for a 4oz bottle the Fellows is a better buy. Not to mention the Engineer at Fellows said that poring oil on a sheet of paper is not enough lubrication & neither are the pre-soaked sheets you can buy. You need to run the machine in reverse as your poring for 10 seconds.

Instructions for the shredder merely state lubricate with veg oil, but must use a bottle with a tapered nozzle. So what you are buying is a rather expensive bottle (price plus shipping). But it was convenient to get shredder and bottle at the same time, since shredder instructions say lubricate before using. And lubricate often.

I've been using the same Fellowes Powershred shredder at home for several years now. It's in use every day as most of my mail goes there. Maybe I should be commenting instead on my Fellows shredder. It runs even more smoothly now than when first purchased and I attribute that to my regular use of Fellowes Phowershred Oil. I oil the shredder every few weeks or so; the 12oz size oil may last the life of the shredder. I didn't use any oil for the first year and I noticed that I had to regularily clean out clumps of confetti cuttings that would stick to the blades - that might have been caused by shredding gummed items, envelopes, and labels, etc.Since using the special Fellows Oil, that is specially formulated for these crosscut shredders, those problem have completely disappeared; the shredder works more efficiently and cleanly now than ever. I know that I will get the maximum life out of my shredder by continuing to use Fellows Powershred Oil.

Received the product very quickly. It was well packaged - product was protected yet didn't have a lot of extra material in the box. Laser pointer is very bright. HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer Real Reviews

HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer Real Reviews Real People

When Office Max had it for $240 Thanksgiving weekend, I just had to replace my 9 year old HP 1200 monochrome laser printer. The old HP ran like a champ, but I could not pass up the chance to move to color. Setup was a breeze over my ethernet using my old Mac running Leopard. I rated the documentation as good, as I only used the quick set up guide and did not dig into the details, but the manual looks comprehensive. I did (and suggest) to skip the enclosed driver CD and go right to HP.com and get the latest drivers and firmware. This made the printer work with Apple's new airprint. I can print from my iPad and iPhone via my home wireless network. I didn't even have to set up the wireless printing on the printer. This is fine because my home network has a greater range in the house than the printer. Print quality is great: "dang near photo" quality. I would still send my 4x6 prints to Walgreens to be printed on nice glossy paper. Each toner in the old laser lasted for years. I hope the same is true for the color printer. Yes, the first toner carts are only about one-third full. Office Max has good prices on toner and Amazon prices are good if you can wait. The nice part is that you can tell the printer to use just black if one or more of the color toners gets low.

Setup for wireless was fast and easy. Well made. Solid proven technology. This printer (unlike the cp1025nw) prints shipping labels well -> and even more amazing - small gold and silver foil labels in color! No problema! Highly recommend, especially for the low Amazon price, customer service, and HP business customer service. The first laser printer I saw decades ago took up half a room, with a closet full of supplies. This is a professional quality color laser printer that fits neatly on a small narrow 18" table.

This is the first HP LaserJet that I've owned, though I've worked with and installed them since the original LaserJet 1 in the mid/late 80's. Set up was a breeze, mainly consisting of removing lots of pieces of orange tape and taking what I call the tape worms out of the toner cartridges. I was finally able to get the wireless to work with OS-X Lion, and here's the steps: 0. DO NOT install the HP software! It predates Lion, and HP is infamous for buggy software. Just plug in the printer via USB and let OS-X do its own updating, it should work fine, but it will take a little while to download and patch.1. Connect an ethernet cable between the printer and your computer. Give it a minute to pick up an IP address.2. From the printer, print the Network Summary report, under TCP/IP(v4) it should list a 169.254.x.x address, enter this address into a web browser.3. You're now in the printer's web interface and can set up the wireless configuration to connect the printer to your router! But you're not quite done yet...4. You now have the printer configured to accept wireless connections through your router, now you need to add the wireless printer to your computer configuration. Go to System Preferences/Print & Scan and click on the + to add a printer. It should come up with HP LaserJet CP1525nw (xxxxxx). I don't know what the xxxxxx is, some sort of address. Anyway, this is your WiFi connection. Once OS-X is done, you should be good to go. Disconnect any cables between the printer and your computer, and you should be printing wirelessly! (and I'm recreating the steps above from memory, but they should get you close, if not entirely there)

See All Reviews HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer

At the end of October 2011, I bought this printer for a small non-profit organization. We had been using an inkjet printer but the ink was getting too expensive to keep buying so we started looking for a color laser printer that was wireless and had a good price. This was the one we picked and installed. First, the installation is not easy. Our wireless router is in a small nook which made it nearly impossible to hook the printer to it in order to set it up. The fact that there are four cartridges makes me cringe, but most color laser printers have that. I thought it would be worth the hassle if it could save us some money. The prints do look good.As for saving the organization money? I may have been wrong. Since October (2.5 months), we have used all the introductory cartridges and are onto full cartridges for every color. We have printed 258 pages using the yellow. It's 30% full, with approximately 100 pages left. We have printed 617 pages of black, and it has 50% left. Cyan has printed 258 pages, with 60% left. Magenta has printed 185 pages, with 70% remaining. I don't know how HP determined how many pages each cartridge was supposed to have printed, but they are very very wrong. They say each cartridge prints at least 1000 pages, but we won't be able to reach that number. We printed almost the same amount of pages on an inkjet printer but using cartridges that cost less than half the price! It's too bad. I would not recommend this printer to anyone.

I bought a Fellows shredder a few years back and have returned to buy another. The reason is because of the Fellows oil. The shredder was great but the oil gums up over time eventually ruining the unit. It will take 5 or 6 years but the oil will kill the shredder for sure! So I intend, with the new shredder, to obtain some non-gumming lube at the hardware store. Not going to make the same mistake. No star!

Okay--so to get me to the price I needed for free shipping, why not buy the oil to maintain my new shredder? Well, don't do it. Why? Because it is vegetable oil. The user's manual tells you to simply use veggie oil to maintain your shredder. And I think I paid almost ten bucks for this! Don't buy it!

New & Improved 2012 MagicJack Plus + Free 1YR Subscription Magic Jack Service Real Reviews Real People

New & Improved 2012 MagicJack Plus + Free 1YR Subscription Magic Jack Service Most Helpful Reviews

Like so many folks the advertised "$19.95 a year" was a big temptation, but after so many years with the same home phone number, I did not want to lose it. Along comes MajicJack Plus and "now you can keep your phone number". Uh yeah, sorta'. First of all MJ Plus is not $19.95 a year but rather $29.95 a year. Also there is a fee to port your old number, if you can figure out how to port it. Good luck because support is non-existent. I read another reviewer that stated they called customer support for help. Well I wish they would have listed the number they called because it is not found anywhere in the pamphlet, software or website. Which is the crux of this review. To say the support is a shoestring would be generous. I finally found a place to get some info, but it is a forum, and not even run by MajicJack. You are at your computer, on the internet, take a moment to check out what I am saying. It was a good long search to find out where I could access the account login page, where someone on the forum said "you can login and port your number by changing certain account settings". Mind you, this is not "MajicJack" but a forum set up on a third party website. So I entered my email and password to login and change the settings which takes me to..............an advertisement. No buttons, no info, nothing. Go back to the home page, hit the button "Use your existing phone number", gets you general info, no directions whatsoever about how to do it. According to the forum MajicJack does not port your number, once again, you must go to a third party and port your number to them and then transfer it to MajicJack. I know you have likely read the other reviews about how easy this was. Well I don't know if those folks work for MajicJack or not, but believe me I have done some very complex operations on the computer (i.e. I am not computer illiterate) and this was an exercise in frustration. They (MajicJack) offer ZERO help, there is not even a "login" button on the homepage (check it out for yourself). I was able to make and receive calls, but as I said in the beginning, my switching over was predicated on being able to port my number. I returned the whole mess. BUYER BEWARE!

Had magic jack on my Mac mini (OS 10.6.8) for 6 months. Had to leave computer on and needed to leave magic jack as the top screen on my desktop except for short periods of less than 3 hours. So I left computer on always and shut off the monitor when I left it first making sure magic jack showed at the top bar on the screen. Also there was a challenge inserting a CD with iTunes thinking magic jack was a CD already inserted. Just turned off mj to insert a CD. There was poor sound quality whenever someone in my home used a wireless connection to any of 3 other computers on the internet. The sound quality issues went away with replacing wireless with wired ethernet connections throughout the apartment. Also switched from Mediacom 11mbs cable (actual 6 to 8mbs occasionally zero) to CenturyLink 20mbs fiber optics (actual 16 to 18mbs) which may have contributed to better sound quality though wireless was definitely the bigger issue. [With wireless messing up the older magic jack wonder how much is it affecting everyone's health.]All concerns solved now with magic jack plus connected to my router or ethernet switch.I bought mj+ for 34.95 plus shipping directly from magic jack while the deal lasted. Please don't pay $99.At first I connected mj+ via TRENDnet's GNEENnet 8 port ethernet switch (bought cheaply on Amazon) and mj+ didn't work. Connected directly to my Qwest Q1000 modem/router and mj+ worked immediately though still needed to register mj+. To register required to connect to a USB on the computer. After registering mj+ on my computer then reconnecting to a port on the TRENDnet switch all worked fine.I registered my new mj+ using my existing account email and password. I was able to assign the old magic jack phone number to my new magic jack plus easily and for no extra charge. Also checked the box for stuttering tone while registering and looking over my account to give me notice of new voicemail on the phone.I am happy with the upgrade.

I have been a MagicJack user for the past 3 years using the Origanal MagicJack and have been mostly happy with the service considering the annual savings. The call quality was usually pretty good, but at times it would stutter like crazy if someone else in the household was searching or downloading from the internet. With the computer being on 24/7 it would occasionally lockup or restart because of an update and the MagicJack at times wouldn't reconnect automatically. None being huge issues but would happen somewhat frequently it seemed. I decided to splurge and purchase the new MagicJack Plus recently. Setup was eazy. I set it up to use my existing magicjack phone number, then use it as a stand-alone unit (without it being connected to a computer) plugged directly into the wall. The call quality is far better than the original! I have had NO issues so far (several weeks) with stuttering calls due to others using the internet while I am talking on the telephone ,and No disconnections (due to computer) since it is being used as a stand-alone unit. The magicjack plus also will notify you through the telephone now if you have a new magicjack voicemail (setup in the [...]) I am very satisfied so far with my purchase of the new magicjack plus.

If Error 23 sounds neat to you, go ahead and buy the magicjack! Its a great concept, but in reality, your calls breakup, you getdisconnected, calls don't always come through or go out. Very unreliable. Its only as good as your internet service is for the moment. Skype actuallyworks better! They have some real network problems. Hope they can work allthe bugs out this time, unlike the orginal magicjack.

Canon PIXMA MG5220 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-in-One Reviews Full of Functionality

Canon PIXMA MG5220 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-in-One Reviews

Upgraded from a "great" Lexmark printer we receive for Christmas three years ago. Not all that happy about the Christmas gift - but what can you do besides use it until it quits working? Researched this Canon printer for a while prior to purchasing it and it has not disappointed me at all. Amazing speed for a color printer and absolutely beautiful color photos. Compared a 4x6 printed at Walgreens to a 4x6 of the same photo printed at home and the home version was better than the Walgreens photo. Works well with my Canon SX10IS camera as well.Easy installation on the XP platform even with our wireless connection. I would buy this printer again. easily.

As my title says, I have only one complaint. When one color runs out, the printer does not print. I never understood why this upset my friends & colleagues until I needed to print just one black & white. I could not print it until my one replacement ink cartridge arrived, even thought I was not replacing the black!Pros:- Easy to set up!- Beautiful print work!- Copies look just as good as the original!- Text is clear & crisp.- Not an ink hog!- Prints quickly, with high quality!- Duplexes wonderfully!Cons:- If one color goes out, you must replace it to print ANYthing.

Better than HP printers, these drivers actually work. However connecting via WiFi is not all that easy. The instructions are poor, and if you have a hidden SSID and encrypted authentication, the SETUP on the printer can't handle that, and you have to suck the settings off your PC to a USB flash drive to transfer to printer, and even those instructions are poor. One big plus, Canon has a free App in the Apple iPhone App store - "Canon iEPP" that allows printing a Camera shot, or picture in the iPhone directly to the printer over WiFi; no waiting for iOS 4.2The price is nice, but the printer doesn't FAX or print on DVDs.Calling Canon support is a mixed bag. You do get to the United States, which is infinitely better than HP's script readers in India, but if you have a difficult problem, they tell you "A level 2 tech will call back within 48 hours"; like I'd skip work, and sit by the phone for 2 days. The colors when printing are good, but the ink cartridges hold a paltry 9 ml, and no XL cartridges are sold for this model. I use only 24 pound paper for best results.

Things I like: Duplex printing works superbly, I was able to print double-sided card stock 5x faster, the printer somehow flips it around inside and does everything for you, no more confusing errors and turning trying to line it up. Interface is very slick, lcd screen looks good but has bad viewing angles (cheap).Scanner is quite large, something like 9x12, also fast and does amazing photo reprints (an option on the printer itself)You don't need to be hooked up to a computer to print, Wifi works great though on both mac and windows.Printing is smooth and quiet. The cassette for plain paper and separate tray for special papers is awesome, makes it a lower profile when just printing plain paper.Solidly built, everything has a purpose, the tray even opens automatically if its closed when printing.Color is amazing! (see things I don't like about ink usage)4 color tank combo pack are $37 on amazon.Things I don't like:I don't know if its the starter pack or what, but after printing 8 8.5x11's full page photos (cyan was the main color) the cyan tank was at half full. This may be because its just a starter pack though. For the first week I had it I was worried I got a defunct printer, it would cast a purple hue on everything printing, even if it was black and white. I was using cheap kodak (3 star one) photo paper that I had lying around. After painstaking printer profiling, monitor re-calibrating, using different programs etc nothing was working. I went out and bought Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II (pp-201). Low and behold, the prints were now color accurate! PAPER MATTERS! If you want quality prints, get Canon or similar high end papers! Stay away from "Kodak Gloss Photo Paper" (3 of 5 stars on package). I recommend canon papers because the printer has color profiles for it, to ensure consistency and quality.I RECOMMEND THIS PRINTER, Walmart has it for $59!

Brother PC-Connectable Label Maker with Auto Cutter Customer Reviews

Brother PC-Connectable Label Maker with Auto Cutter Most Helpful Reviews

The Brother PT-2430 PC label printer comes with a USB cord to connect right to your PC. You do not need to load the added software unless you are looking for some advanced features. A sample starter tape (1/2 inch (12mm) x 16 foot (5m) black on white laminated TZ starter tape) comes included. This was really easy to set up and start using right away. You really just plug in and go. There are just a few settings on the machine itself. On the top it has: On/Off switch with LED light, cut button. On the back is the connector ports for the AC adapter, USB cable, and a small switch that lets you select the edit mode. Edit modes are EL (Edit Lite - default) or E (Edit Mode - can be used if you install the included software cd). I have Windows XP and had no problems using this with and without the installed software.Right out of the box, it was able to print 1/2 inch black and white labels in many different fonts. It includes installed clip art and frames that can easily be inserted and you can even insert your own pictures (they do come out grainy though).I will say a little about the installed software. It took me only 5 minutes to install. The instructions tell you to unplug the label maker while the cd is being installed. Then, the install wizard will walk you through installation and instructs you when to go ahead and plug in the label maker. As another reviewer mentioned, make sure to also flip the edit mode switch on the machine to E. Once in Edit mode, you can print different label styles (bar codes, vertical printing, etc). You still have the benefits you had with the EL function but there are added fonts, clip arts, many more frame styles, etc. You also have the option of loading Excel, Word or Outlook add ins that allow you to make labels right from those applications. I liked using the Word software a little better but maybe that's just because I'm more familiar with it.You can purchase additional tapes in varying colors, widths, acid free, extra strength, extra narrow (for labeling the edges of cd cases), fabric tapes, etc... Replacement tapes start at around $12 on Amazon. The specialty tapes tend to cost a little more.Overall, this is a great little label maker. I imagine this would be a nice solution for a small business owner. For personal use, it has way more features than I could ever need. I basically just wanted something to label my son's toy bins, clean up our office, and label the many storage boxes in our basement. I suppose with the acid free tape I could use it for scrapbooking, but the acid free tapes only come in black on clear or black on white, so it is limited in colors. It also has a nice christmas frame that could be used to make tags on christmas gifts - but the pre printed gift tags they sell at the store are cheaper and more colorful. So, I think I'm back to my boring old label making needs. It is still a pretty fancy label maker though, easy to use and fun.

While I loved this label maker with my PC, I have happily switched to Mac. My only regret in making the change is that this label maker is limited to Windows. Time for a Mac version, Brother.

I really like this label printer except for one fairly minor quibble (more on that later). I have been a long-time owner & user of a standalone Brother P-Touch label printer that I got years ago at a warehouse club store. You know the ones - battery operated, with a built-in keyboard & a small LCD screen. This PC-compatible label printer uses the exact same label cartridges as those units - the Brother "TZ" cartridges, although this printer can use tape up to 1" wide, while my standalone P-Touch can use tape up to only 1/2" in width. That's the first point that makes this unit more versatile.Another feature that makes this printer more versatile is the fact that it is used connected to a Windows PC (no Mac support as of yet - too bad, but I have both). Using either the built-in "Lite" software, or the full-fledged software you can optionally install from CD, you can use any TrueType font, as well as graphics. My stand-alone unit is limited to one standard font, so I really like this flexibility. If you use the Lite software on the unit itself, you set a switch on the rear of the printer to "EL" ("Editor Lite"), and, when attached to your PC via the included USB cable, a new drive mounts on your computer - just like if you had inserted one of those USB flash drives. The Lite software is on this drive & is run from it directly, with no need to install additional drivers. And, like a flash drive, the printer's drive should be "ejected" before disconnecting the USB cable from your PC.In my case, I wanted to use the printer only on my home PC, so in lieu of the built-in Lite version of the Editor software, I installed the full-fledged version from CD, along with the required drivers. I am running Windows Vista 64 on my PC, and the drivers & software installed & run on it flawlessly. As other reviewers here have noted, you need to install the drivers & software *before* attaching the printer (in fact, the software installation program will prompt you to attach the printer when it is ready), and set the switch on the rear of the printer to "E" ("Editor") before attaching. This switch, in effect, bypasses the internal flash drive on the printer, so it will not mount each time you connect the printer to a USB port on your PC.I am somewhat of a "label-aholic", so I had a lot of fun printing labels for various things around the house when I first set the printer up. I had been wanting to label all the breakers in our house's breaker box in the basement, so that was on of the first things I did. The self-trimming feature of this printer made this task easier than with my standalone unit - no scissors needed! Finally, my one quibble with this unit - like other reviewers have noted, it *does* waste a 1" or so piece of blank tape before printing a label. My standalone unit does that as well, but at least this one trims off the wasted bit before printing the label (hence the scissors requirement for my old one). If you are printing a number of labels at once, this waste can mostly be avoided by printing all the labels as one long label with a few spaces between the text for each one, but then you would need to break out those scissors to trim each label separately (and you'll still get one bit of wasted tape at the start of your one long label!). It doesn't appear in operating the printer that this waste is required, and the cynic in me wants to think that Brother did this to sell more tape (which is not cheap), but I still like this printer a great deal nonetheless. But, I did deduct one star for this waste.

Epson Stylus NX530 C11CB90201 Wireless Color Inkjet Printer with Scanner and Copier Reviews By Customer

Epson Stylus NX530 C11CB90201 Wireless Color Inkjet Printer with Scanner and Copier Most Helpful Reviews

{I have been looking for a decent printer to do some light duty work for my home. I didn't want something too expensive with ridiculous ink cartridge prices. I didn't want something that had extreme HD qualities. I came across this printer on Amazons lightening deal page going for $59.99. I noticed that the cartridges were a decent price and that it had everything but a fax (no big deal). It lacked any reviews but Epson has put out several good printers. I received the printer a few days later and set about setting it up via wireless connection. Fairly easy even without a USB cable. The instruction manual and CD instructions carry you right through the process. Easy, but time consuming. After installing the software, it goes about updating itself and then updates the printers firmware. Didn't run into a single glitch. Took about fifteen minutes from installing the cartridges to setting it at its final resting place. I adjusted the settings to conserve ink and have printed several things up already. Decent, inexpensive printer with effortless wireless setup. Really can't beat this thing. I can't speak for photo printing because I rarely do any. I will update the review in a couple months as to how the printer is fairing.Update 1/1/12:Just thought I'd add a few updates. I have found the fast economy setting too strenuous on my eyes. I bumped it to regular economy setting. Saves my eyes and still saves ink. Paper tray is a little finicky as far as squaring up the paper to be loaded properly. Used it to copy a diagram for work. Copy portion worked fine. I have not had any glitches or major problems yet. So far, great buy.|The Epson NX530 printer offers a lot of bang for the buck. It allows:Wireless set-up and operation, eliminating the need for a cable completely, and allows operation from another room--particularly useful if you've got multiple computers feeding to a single printer;Very fast printing for an ink jet (about one b&w page every four seconds);Color printing and copying as well as black and white;Good, but not exceptional, photo printing (if that's a priority, consider a printer that's specifically designed for photo printing);A 150-page paper drawer, allowing you to do a fair amount of printing before reloading;Easy LED-screen controls that are intuitive and simple;Separate cartridges for each color ink (and a separate black and white cartridge), so you don't have to replace the whole set after running out of one color (I found replacing the cartridges very simple and quick, and they're reasonably priced);Ability to print directly from a camera memory card, so you don't have to turn on your computer or hook up your camera and download the images before printing a photo;Ability to email a photo image directly from your cellphone to the printer; Photocopying capability, including adjusting the size of the image; Scanning capability, together with software that makes basic scanning simple; Automatic double-sided copying; andRelatively small size.Limitations:No fax capability; One paper drawer means you'll have to hand-load paper of a different type or dimension if your job requires different types of copies; and(Epson also makes the NX430, which costs $10 less. For that sum, the NX530 offers the paper drawer, automatic double-sided copying, and faster printing, with a slightly larger footprint.)I found wireless set-up easy, and was scanning and touching up photos within an hour of unpacking it. The quality of the black and white text is excellent, while that of photos is acceptable, especially for prints smaller than 8x10. The LED touch screen controls are straightforward. This printer isn't designed for constant, high-volume printing day after day. The ink cartridges and paper would require frequent replacement; and I don't think it would last very long with that kind of use. The NX530 is recommended for personal use or a home office that requires light to moderate printing. For heavier use, look into one of the Epson WorkForce models (or other manufacturers' printers), or a laser printer, which offer more durability and flexibility.|It didn't take long to set up wireless and to get on my network. Since I have OS lion, I had to download the software to install on my computer, which took about 25 minutes, depending on your download speed. But while I was downloading it to my computer, I was able to print right away from my iPad. You can also print double-sided, which is something I like. You can also tell it to print double-sided from your iPad as well. All the programs on my iPad the require a "Air-printer Printer" will work with this printer. The ink is priced fairly decently.|This is a very well designed and thought out product; extremely simple to set up, easy to use functionality and it does many things well. It is true it doesn't have a fax, but we got rid of our landline a long time ago. For the modern world, for most people, and certainly for me the ability to scan and then email is just as good. The first striking thing about the NX530 is how easy it is to set up. Adding the printer to my wireless network could not have been easier. The LCD display screen when you first turn it on and prime the ink has an option set up wizard. I pressed OK and it found my named network right away. I pressed OK. It asked for the network password. I entered it and then the printer was part of the network. It took less than 2 minutes. After that I downloaded the software for my netbook and used the supplied CD disc for my notebook. I choose printer already part of the network and both computers were good to go. You will want the software for the EpsonScan software. If you have an iPhone you will also Epson iPrint app. The NX530 was not listed but the NX430 was, probably because the NX530 is a newer model. But no problems, the iPrint app works great. It found the printer and it has options to print Photos, web page print, and even operate the scanner.I was interested in the scanner and put it through a few items. the scanner does need to be controlled with iPrint or the EpsonScan software. It did not find either computer from the printer itself, it will only find a printer connected via USB. But with the EsponScan from either of my computers it worked fine and downloaded the scanned image exactly where I wanted it to. I used the 'professional mode'. This let me scan some old color photos to an incredibly high DPI. I choose 1200 DPI which resulted in a 4 by 6 inch photo coming out to around a 4.5 meg file. It was reproduced very accurately. It took around 2 minutes to scan and I had to tell it was a 4 by 6 photo. Using preview you can see if you have placed the photo in the correct spot on the scanner bed. Scanning a black and white page at 300 DPI took only a few seconds. And if you are scanning as a PDF you get an option to have a new page become part of the same document which is very handy. One of the main things about buying a printer is you are really buying an Ink supplier. The cost of Ink will dwarf the cost of the printer itself. It turns out Epson gives you a lot of flexibility. You have two options, the 125 line and the 127 line. The 127 line costs more but gives you higher capacity. I will go this way when I need refills. Both the 125 and 127 have excellent reviews on Amazon. You have a black cartridge and 3 color cartridges. On my current printer I only use black. I use Photo services to print my Photos. I did borrow some photo print paper and was very pleased with the results on the NX530. However I have found in the past it is cheaper to use store print services. But for those that want to print photos you not only get good quality, and VERY fast drying ink, but you can put your photo card directly into the printer. The printer came supplied with regular 125 cartridges not half starter cartridges, a nice touch from Epson. Another neat function is that from your computer once you install the software it will check for any firmware updates. There was one and I initialized it from the computer and it installed in a few minutes. The printer itself is a nice design. The control panel slides out for easy reading and use. The buttons are large. the top of the printer has a nice texture. The paper tray is easy to adjust and clearly marked for various sizes. In the end Epson has made an extremely easy to use wireless printer. It takes just a couple of minutes to get the computer on your network. The functions are all easy to use via smartphone, computer, or directly from the printer with the exception of scanning which you will need to control from a computer or smartphone. The print quality for documents and photos is very good. You have the ability to do double sided printing. Scanning produces excellent results. The ink gets good reviews. I personally trust Epson and Canon the most when it comes to printers. Epson put a lot of many decades of printer know how into the NX530 and user friendliness and it shows. Highly recommended.|I've been using a for over five years and put quite a few miles on it. It was connected to my home server running Windows XP Pro. I recently got my wife a MacBook running OS X 10.7 Lion. Although Lion could recognize the shared drives on the server, it just couldn't figure out the printer. Evidently Apple decided to screw up CUPS ability to work with SMB printers in Lion. I tried several things to no avail including setting up the Microsoft Print Services for Unix so I could connect over LPD. Evidently the Canon drivers didn't like LPD any better than Lion liked SMB. After spending several hours fighting this, I realized I may just need to get a new printer.I started at the Apple Store to see what printers they sold. At the low end was the . I did some digging around to see if the per-page costs would be horrible. The NX430 wasn't bad but the NX530 was even better. Amazon was selling both for the same price, and the NX530 adds duplex printing and wired ethernet. It arrived the next day thanks to the Amazon Prime shipping upgrade. I had it set up and working with my PC in minutes. I then had to have my wife's MacBook download the drivers directly from Epson. The driver on the CD included in the package won't work with Lion. There was a sheet of paper giving instructions on how to navigate this. Unfortunately, Epson's website was slow and it took 30 minutes to downlaod the drivers.Once the drivers were downloaded I had the printer setup on the MacBook in minutes. The scanner also works over wifi with the MacBook. That's a nice upgrade over the Canon which required me to scan only from the server. The printer is quiet and very fast. I haven't tested it's photo capabilities but I suspect it's better than the Canon. One drawback is that the printed paper comes out the front and falls on the floor. There is a flimsy, flip-out plastic piece that is supposed to catch the prints but it doesn't always do a great job.|Epson makes a fine array of Color Ink Jet Printers. This would be the base model. While it is a copier and a scanner, you can only copy or scan one page at a time because there is no document feeder. But if you are very limited in space and really do not need a multi page scanner, then this would be perfect. The color print is very good. I did not use the scanner but have with other Epsons and it works very well, even wirelessly! The new feature is Epson Connect. This allows you to email photos, documents and even emails to the printer directly. I forwarded an email with graphics to the given email address and it printed on the printer but many of the graphics did not print out.So for a basic printer it is alright but if you have the room, spend a little more and get a better model.|I have an . This will be a great addition to my network. What one printer lacks, the other one makes up for. They are so very complementary. ** WiFi **Both printers have WiFi capability, but I was never able to get the WorkForce set up with the network. Or rather, I set it up with the network, but my printers could never talk to it. Thus, I could never print via WiFi. The Stylus, however, was a cinch to set up. I didn't even start with it hooked up via USB as suggested in the instructions. The best thing is it works!** Email Photos **The WorkForce cannot print from emails, but the Stylus can. An account has to be registered first in order to set up the very long email address (it's a random set of numbers and letters I had no say in). Through that account, the user may control who the printer will accept email from so as not to waste paper on spam messages. Thank the stars, because Lord knows what types of photos may spit out from those! I emailed myself a test photo and it prints out like an email, with the sender, subject and everything else printed on the top. Very cool. ** Printing From Memory Cards **Both printers accept SD, XD, and Memory Stick Pro, but WorkForce also takes Compact Flash. I used the Memory Stick Pro on both printers. Although overall performance is comparable, I think it's quicker, easier, more intuitive to navigate the printer's screen on the Stylus. There are just so many buttons on the WorkForce. Output is the same as when printing from the computer. I like it.** Printing From Kindle Fire **This part could have used some better documentation. The Stylus is capable of printing from mobile devices, but instructions are not available in their manual. It must be accessed via the company website. Setup takes time but is not too difficult. I was able to get my Kindle Fire up and running. It requires Google Cloud Print and an app from the Kindle Fire app store. I used EasyPrint, with which I'm able to print my documents from the Google Cloud.** Automatic Double-Sided Printing **This is a great feature of the Stylus, something which is missing in the WorkForce. It's fast and easy and it automatically prints the pages in order so that I don't have to go back and collate.** Print Quality **I cannot tell the photos and text printing apart between printers. Both printers print very quickly. The images are sharp and they don't smudge.** Other Options **Unlike the WorkForce, the Stylus does not have automatic page feed for copying, and it does not have fax capabilities. PROS:+ easy to set up and use WiFi+ can email photos to the printer+ can directly print from Kindle Fire and other mobile devices+ accepts SD, XD, Memory Stick Pro cards+ automatic double-sided printing capability+ fast printer speed+ text and images are sharp and smudge-free+ has flatbed copier/scannerCONS:- does not take Compact Flash cards- no automatic page feed for copying- no fax capability- poor documentation for printing from mobile devicesBottom line, the Stylus is a terrific printer for those who want a Wi-Fi networked or email capable printer, or anyone who does lots of double-sided printing. If you're looking for something that can send and receive fax or if you make lots of copies, the WorkForce 630 is a better choice.|I have never been displeased with an Epson product, from the first laser printer I bought ten years ago to this printer, they all do exactly what they are supposed to do without issue. This printer installed without a problem on my home system, just like every other Epson printer I've ever used has. The colors are clear and bright, the blacks are deep and rich.Epson makes a lot of printers and if I was in the market for a printer, I'd check my wallet, see what I could afford and then I'd go shopping here for the one that fit my budget. If I sound like a commercial for Epson, I'm sorry, but for me their products have always been first rate and their support is friendly and fast.|Our house is starting to look something like a warehouse because of the number of printers we have lying around. I suspect that at this point I have at least 1 of every brand, which I suppose puts me in a good position to write a printer review, on the other hand the reason for all of those printers is the cost of ink. Some of those printers are actually unused and gathering dust (the one my daughter got free with her Dell laptop, for example, which takes $120 cartridges). Anyone who has a printer must know how absurd this model is. What you have is effectively a vending machine to the extent that as often as not the ink costs more than the printer, sometimes it costs more/ month than the printer costs to buy....so it is yet to be determined how long we will be using this. My daughter, who is (among other things) a photographer got an Epson on a special deal when she bought her first good camera. A photo-quality printer, it has been used exactly once over the course of 5 or 6 years, as it costs less to have the photos professionally printed than it does to use the printer! I will not know how cost-efficient this one is until we run out of ink (as we have no estimate of how many pages it will print/ cartridge). All that said, my opinion of a printer is closely ties to the cost of ink, at least that goes to its utility. This is a reasonably nice printer, and at this price point, I would even say a very nice printer. It is a low cost all in one machine. The quality of the prints is very nice, I would say better than either of my Canons, really any of the others, save the HP professional laser printer. *However* I continue to use my for most things despite the variable quality of the prints because it takes $10 ink cartridges. However, if the cost of ink cartridges (currently $12.75 for standard, $28 for XL) stays where it is, that is reasonable enough to make this a very usable printer. This printer also took a bit longer to set up than most as it immediately installed a firmware upgrade and required the installation of driver (on a more or less standard windows machine). Thus far no other printer I have used (and there are roughly a dozen) have required the installation of driver {at least not since windows xp, which auto-detects most printers and has drivers on board: plug & play). Note; this was very simple, I mention it only because I know some people who are sufficiently uncomfortable with technology that they would be deterred by having to install drivers from a disk. In addition, while it is a wireless printer, in order to print from an android tablet more drivers are required software needs to be installed on tablet). That is not too surprising given the lack of standards in android devices, but most of other printers I have (honestly, that sounds ridiculous, and is) are plug and play. Part of me wants to take another star off for that, but the reason that I haven't is that:1: the print quality is very nice for an ink jet, among the best I have seen (near laser quality)2: It is an all (print, scan, copy) in one machine at a very low price point3; It has most if not all of the features most people would want, allowing you to print from a memory card (without going through the computer,) print wirelessly from a hand-held device ( and network with machines in other rooms (for example).4, It is fast (again faster than all but the professional laser copier) and quiet. It is relatively intuitive, easy to set up and use (with the caveat that some drivers need to be installed). It has a large footprint as home printers go, I'd say the biggest of the 10-12 we have lying around. It is something you should be aware of, particularly if your space is tight (check the dimensions before ordering).Honestly my biggest issue is right up top: I do not know how much it is going to cost to maintain/ run. When I do, I will come back and add that information.I will say that there was a point, with my kids' printer, that I looked at getting a new printer when it ran out of ink because the cost of a new printer with 2 cartridges was lower than the cost of replacing either cartridge! (My husband, who is ecologically minded stopped me from doing that.... but every time we need to replace a cartridge I check, and think that if everyone did that maybe we could unwind this game: get back to paying for the printer and a reasonable cost for the ink.At this point in time it is not the case that this printer costs less than the ink (with standard ink cartridges running circa $15) but how economical it is will depend on how many prints we get from the cartridge. My personal experience with Epson is that it has been one of the more expensive to run, but it does give you nicer prints. also looks like Epson is getting better in this way! (I have long said that whoever offers a reasonable, fair cost of operation gets the market. Maybe Epson has figured this out!) At the time of this revision (my 3rd in as many days) the cartridges cost $15.78 for a standard, and $28 for an XL (which I understand gives you 1,000 prints. (Thank you Patrick for leaving that comment and providing more information). That is a pretty reasonable cost from my perspective, and bumps this up to 5 stars. It looks like this one may well be the one which sends the other to a garage sale or goodwill! Nice print, easy to uses, accepts a variety of inputs, scans & faxes. Really you can not ask for much more!Note: I will not revise every time there is a price change in either printer or ink costs. I have seen huge variability over the past week alone :) But have revised my opinion based on the current price from amazon (and ordered some myself, considering this a very reasonable price). Just be aware that prices change here, things go on special, market place sellers come and go, so I am always hesitant to put price information in my reviews. On the other hand, cost is a factor in all of our purchases, and so it has to influence my decision (and ratings) some. Do not rely on the $ amount sited in the review, consider it an approximation and look at what Amazon is selling it for. (In my experience it is rare to find a better price; they work on that, and successfully too.) Hmm, maybe now I can pass the old Cannon on to the kids knowing that with this networked, they can print their homework or whatever needs to be legible, and save the one with the ultra- cheap ink for things which will ultimately be recycled ;)In sum; I have changed my opinion of this machine to accord with what I consider a reasonable cost of operation. If I were buying or replacing a printer now, I would make this one my first choice. Why?1. Best print quality I have seen on an inkjet printer, considering *all* the major manufacturers.2. Ability to network, print remotely, wirelessly, from an android tablet or memory card (in addition to standard wired options)3 All in one functions: scan, print, fax4. speed: fastest ink jet5. reasonable cost *both to purchase and operate;* among the best in this regard. I have 1 printer (and early Canon Pixma) which is less expensive to use, but the print quality is not anywhere near as good. The only cons, or caveats: It is larger than many home printers. Looks at the dimensions and consider the space you have available. It also requires the installations of drivers (provided on disk). It is a simple install, and I do not believe recommends against this machine unless you are very very uncomfortable with technology and do not want to have to do anything more than plus it in.Someone called another printer I reviewed (a pixma) "the perfect printer". I generally hesitate to make such strong statements, but may go out on a limb and say that about this machine. The other is a bit less expensive to run, However, the quality of prints from this machine is very much better. (I could not refer to a printer as "perfect" which sometimes produces illegible prints, and... I have a few other issues with that machine as well). For this machine I would say that it depends on what you consider reasonable. At $28/ 1,000 pages, I consider it a reasonable cost of operation.

Like so many oversized books, this one is woefully over-produced. While dividing it into decades is a useful device, miniscule type for the text and skimpy pictures, both in quantity and size, made this a real disappointment for me. I never check out anything in a bookstore before I buy at Amazon, but if I had observed this, I would not have purchased it. You will find two things I enjoy above all else: colors and the English language. Both get brief shrift here.

Canon CanoScan LiDE110 Color Image Scanner Real Reviews

Canon CanoScan LiDE110 Color Image Scanner Real Reviews Real People

I was using a HP all-in-one printer-scanner, which I liked. However, although the HP printer-scanner is cheap, the ink is expensive and I am also switching to Laser Jet instead. Also, the all-in-one is not very convenient when I want to move it around (a printer is always bulky, and there is also a power cable and a converter involved)This Canon scanner is perfect. It is slim and light (looks like a laptop computer), and both data and power is transmitted through the same USB cable. When you need to carry it around, you can lock the lid so that is won't flop open. (When I transported my HP all-in-one, I needed to seal the lip with tapes)I simply position the Canon on my book shelf (which is behind my LCD monitor), and it barely wastes any space, and visually it fits quite well with my other computer peripherals (LCD monitor, printer, keyboard, tower, etc, which are all black).Operating it is very easy, and you don't need to read any manuals. Although I still think HP's scanner software is the best, I think Canon does a reasonable good job and is not disadvantaged much. You can scan a document or a picture by simply pressing a button on the scanner, or you can twist the setting in the Canon MP Navigator EX software. You can save the documents into PDF files and email them. To sum up, it does what an office scanner is supposed to do (unless you are scanning 20 pages in a time, for which case you want to buy a $400 high-speed scanner), and costs only $56.

I ordered one of these and very carefully followed all instructions, including the instruction to "unlock" the scanner using the slider switch on the bottom of the scanner. When I had all the software loaded, I plugged in the scanner and tried to scan. The scanner seemed to make a small amount of progress, reversed itself, and then asked me to unlock the scanner and unplug/replug the USB cable. I slid the switch to lock and back to unlock, and unplugged and plugged the USB back in. No dice. I tried reverse psychology and locked the scanner. That didn't work either. I packaged it up and sent it back to Amazon, who rushed out a new scanner. Same problem. Returned it, too.I looked up this problem online and found that others have had this same problem, but most after a few months of light use. I suppose I got lucky in that both scanners failed immediately and within Amazon's return window.

I have owned one of the IDE line scanner in the past and was very pleased with it. I like the USB-powered design, as I already have a dozen wall worts. Driver installation was straightforward, worked immediately, and the default quality was good. The one-touch PDF is a very handy feature as well.Driver included has a number of user-adjustable settings. If you can't get what you want from them, you are far too demanding. The initial color scan on default was a bit pale, but a minor adjustment to the contrast and saturation fixed that.If you need a very good scanner at an excellent price, look no further.

Canon CanoScan LiDE110 Color Image Scanner Reviews

The CanoScan LIDE 110 seems to be an excellent bargain. For the price I paid, I was very excited with its small size, excellent quality, and relatively fast scanning. I used it to scan personal documents. Installation was very easy, and took about 10 minutes including taking the scanner out of the box. However, I got a little busy and let the documents pile up. I left the scanner turned off for about a month, and when I went to use it this morning, it is totally DOA. No amount of cajoling could bring it back to life. It doesn't even draw power from a USB hub, so obviously something died inside the scanner.Yes, I realize this that I'm not paying all that much money, but I expected to get at least a year out of the scanner. Haven't heard back from Canon yet. I barely got three months. I'd skip this and buy something with a better track record.

It's great what a hundred dollar printer can offer you today. Wireless printing is so convenient. All you have to do is just plug it in, wherever you want it, and it's good to go. The touch screen interface is super responsive and after you connect with your router all you have to do is type in the displayed IP address from the printer into the connectivity software on your pc. Printing is a peace of cake and the quality of the prints are amazing!

This thing was Dead on arrival. Right out of the box I got an error that setup could not complete. Going to have amazon replace it hopefully it was just this printer.Received replacement printer and It was also DOA. but was able to see what was wrong and was able to fix it. a plastic clip became detached and was able to snap it back into place. The printer does not seem to be built very well. but it works. It is not going to win any printing quality awards from the documents I printed, I didn't try any photos but I don't expect much.

I just bought this printer- not through Amazon, but a local store and it printed 7 pages before it began to jam. I bought it to replace another HP printer that won't print, even though I just changed the ink. I spent an hour on the old one and 1 1/2 hours on the new one- what a waste of time. I'm going to buy a Brother printer tomorrow.

HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer Real Reviews

HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer Real Reviews

I purchased this printer through a local retailer and was debating between the HP and a similarly priced wireless printer from Brother. The replacement toner cartridges are a bit more for the HP, but then again, they come with the drum assembly built in. This greatly reduces maintenance and potential hardware failures.Setup: As for setup, under Windows it's a snap. Put the CD in and follow the directions.Under Linux (I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx)) the install was easy. I visited [...] web site and downloaded the drivers. From there, I just followed the directions on the web page and it works like a charm.I've not used it with a Mac, but I did note that OSX is listed on the box.Printer quality:As for the printer itself. It has a very small footprint on the desk when the paper trays are not extended, and a small one when they are. It has excellent monochrome print quality and is very fast. As with all laser printers, the ink is waterproof once it's on the paper. I'd recommend it any day of the week. The printer's body feels solid when you handle it. The input trays are similarly solid. The output tray feels a bit light, but as long as you aren't abusing the tray, it'll be more than sufficient.HP Experience:For me, HP printers are generally very reliable and always has good driver support both under Windows and Linux.

I am very pleased with this printer. It is so small that it fits into a book shelf near my PC, it looks okay, it was cheap, and the print quality and speed are at least as good as the much bigger und much more expensive older-generation HP Laserjet I have in my office. The setup for wireless printing from my Windows 7 system was easy: Turn the printer on and connect it to the PC using the included USB cable. The PC will identify it and launch an HP setup program automatically and search for your wireless router. You will be asked to enter the network password, then you have to disconnect the USB cable, and after a total time of two minutes or so you are ready to go. The printer goes into standby mode after a short time, but it wakes up automatically when you print something (and begins to print after just a few seconds), and this is still working without problems after unplugging the printer from the power outlet for a few minutes (when I put it to its final location) and after rebooting the PC a few times. So far I am 100% satisfied.

Car Audio/Video

***Update 4/1/2011***I have installed a few more of these and have used the wireless for some of the setups and it seems to perform fairly well. No drops from the wireless network and is pretty easy to setup to joina wireless network. Just note that you need WPA security at a minimum for the printer to work wirelessly. Original Review:I have purchased 2 of these for customers that needed a replacement for an older model HP laser printer. This laser printer seems to be comparable to the older 1005/1006 and 1100 series of laser printers they appear to have replaced. The only difference appears to be this model adds wireless. Print quality, toner cost per page doesn't seem to have changed any over the last several models of this series. You get a typical starter cartridge that is about 60% full and software still includes tons of bloatware for a low volume desktop printer.Pros:* Inexpensive small footprint laser printer* Quick first page printingCons:* Why does HP continue to want to install so many programs for a simple laser printer? If you don't know how to install the software, you end up with a huge customer participation program that sends you usage to HP, a driver update program that has never worked in the 12 years I have been installing these and a desktop manager that runs at startup when all you can do is print. Why do we need something running to help us print to a basic B&W laser printer that will print just fine with the drivers installed without the program running at start-up. I find this aggrevating especially when you install HP software on a laptop. When you are away from the printer, it takes longer to boot because the HP program is searching for the printer it can't find. HP used to provide corporate drivers that were just the drivers, which is all you need. Not available with this model, so you can't avoid the bloatware. The wireless seems like an afterthought. This is the only entry-level laser printer HP offers, so if you are in an office environment, you probably don't even need the wireless. I guess I wonder why they didn't add an Ethernet card instead. Yes, I know many routers have USB ports for printers, but those are typically harder to configure, where the Ethernet connection is more universal for small business networks or typical home networks where you already have a wireless router with a 4 port switch. Conclusion:It is what it is. A basic, no frills B&W laser printer with decent print speeds. I have been buying these for years and they serve their purpose. Remember, you get what you pay for. If you just need something on a desk to print an occasional email or invoice, it will meet your needs. If you will use this as a primary printer for a desktop or small office, I would recommend looking at some of the mid line laser printers with larger paper trays, larger capacity toner cartridges, etc. A few more dollars get a lot more features.

HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer Real Reviews

This is a great little printer with excellent print quality and a small size. Since it's wireless and tiny you can place it in many places you might not have considered for a printer. Ours is inside an end table in our living room. The onboard embedded web server is great for monitoring the printer and checking toner life, and drivers are available for most platforms. If you use Windows, HP actually embeds the drivers into an onboard memory chip, making them immediately available as soon as you connect a USB cable. Very slick, and it works. For the Mac however, it's not so simple. For some reason HP couldn't find room in the onboard memory for a Mac driver, so you have to download it or install from the CD. The real issue with this printer however is the wireless network setup. Since you can't just connect an ethernet cable to it, and since the Mac driver cannot configure the network print server over USB, you are left with the dubious option of connecting to the printer in ad-hoc mode, connecting to the embedded web server, configuring the printer for use on your wireless network, restart the printer, and pray it works. If not you have to reset it to defaults and start over. Took me a couple of tries, and I do this stuff for a living. To be fair once it is configured it works great. While I understand HP's desire to keep this printer at a low price point with Wi-Fi functionality, I would gladly have paid a bit more for Ethernet and WiFi, or a more full-featured driver.Edit 8-21-2011:HP has released a firmware update for this printer that seems to address many of the wireless installation issues under Mac OS, particularly OS X 10.7 Lion. I couldn't get Lion to even see this printer on my network. After the firmware update, OS X finds the printer via Bonjour and offers to find and install drivers. The firmware is dated 2011-06-09 and is version 20110512, and even has a Mac OS installer. Bravo to HP for resolving these issues.

Canon PIXMA MG5320 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-in-One Printer Real Reviews

Reviews Of Canon PIXMA MG5320 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-in-One Printer

We have struggled with an old Epson all-in-one printer at our house for the last couple years. Initially we bought whatever we could get for the cheapest price and that Epson worked for us. After a few months of use we very much regretted buying Epson. It was slow, unreliable and if we did not print on a very regular basis the ink would dry up...we've been through two Epson printers and will not go back. That all being said, we recently welcomed this new Canon all-in-one to our home and in the past few weeks been very impressed. Firstly the setup took less than 5 minutes and we're using this as a standalone wireless printer. Plugged it in, put in the wireless security key then both our Windows and Mac computers picked it up and found the drivers. The Canon Pixma has a beautiful, sleek look to it, but does not disappoint on functionality. In efforts to save space it has a small paper tray on the bottom, instead of sitting straight up out the back of the printer. Speed is the first thing we noticed...when we send a print job to the Canon it starts immediately and is usually done before we can even get to the printer. We've been trying to properly test the printer with color and high resolution pictures and have not yet been let down by it. Our last Epson was listed as a photo printer but does not at all compare to the Canon Pixma. The few pictures I printed, black and white as well as bright vibrant pictures...both stunning in quality. No need to send away for prints at the drug store, we just need to keep photo paper in the house! We're not at all regretting the decision on this Canon All-in-One. Trying to be as objective as possible here, but have not yet found any cons to this printer.

Don't bother with the install disk that comes with the printer, and even Apple's auto setup feature will fail and say software was not available for this printer. Just google firmware update for Pixma 5320 and it will lead you to the correct file to download and install. The printers current version firmware is 1.0 and it needs 2.0 for AirPrint to work. After the firmware is enabled iPhones, iPod, iPads will immediately see and be able to print to this printer. Setting up your Mac you don't let it auto-choose the driver, rather you select "AirPrint"- and that's it your Mac can print. It is a bit of leg work rather than some other printers that just plug in and work- but this one is worth it. I'm really pleased with the printer so far. I did get one from amazon- which out of the box it was not working - would not let me get past the startup screen to set up. Called Canon and they confirmed it's a Lemon- Amazon was fantastic with the exchange and sent me a new one before UPS even picked up the broken one.

Brother Printer Wireless Monochrome Printer, Dark Grey Reviews

Brother Printer Wireless Monochrome Printer, Dark Grey Real Reviews Real People

This printer is a new offering from Brother and I have only had it a couple of days, but my initial opinion is that it's a pretty good printer. Set-up was easy, I have it positioned about 40' from my (very old) router on a different level of my house and connectivity so far has been flawless. I have both printed and scanned without any issues. I currently have a desktop and two laptops setup to print to this printer, again, no issues. Print quality looks as you'd expect for a laser printer and scan quality seemed good as well. On duplex printing the page does come out slightly curled, but I think that's to be expected in a printer of this size. This is my first laser printer so I have nothing to compare it to, but the noise level does not seem bad at all, I can hear it from the next room but just barely and it's totally quiet while "sleeping". Print speed is very quick, I thinks it's rated for less than 10 seconds for the first print and that seems about right, it's very quick. As I stated earlier, I have not had this printer long, but so far so good. I got this for significantly under MSRP, don't buy it for list price. I'll try to provide an update after it's been in use for a while.

I bought this printer somewhere else because of a certain promotion that was running recently but I'm very happy with purchase.Duplex and the scanner were the 2 main reasons I wanted this printer. Couldn't care less for a printer with fax. Do people even fax anymore when you can scan and email it?Wireless setup was a breeze. I just entered my router password on the printer itself. Than after that I just used the cd for installation and I'm good to go for wireless printing. Didn't use a usb cable or anything else.

CONVERSE Backpack

I love this printer! I have recently set up my own business from home, and needed something simple and reliable. This printer meets all my criteria, and it has worked flawlessly! The wireless connection was super easy to set up, and I have not had a problem with the connection since the first initial set up. The pages print clear. Also, I researched before I bought a printer to compare toner prices, and this was on the lower end for toner replacement, so that is a great bonus! I have not had to use the copy or scan features yet, but I'm sure they work just as well.

It was delivered today. I will use printer with the wireless network adapter in my netbook. First of all, I did not find the initial connection to be as simple as described in other reviews. I had to call Brother. To be fair though, I did mistake the bonus software CD-ROM for the CD driver. That may have slowed things down a little. However, I'm pissed because tech support told me I can't print while connected to the internet unless I get a router. My "network" is apparently too simple, i.e., one laptop, one printer, and a broadband thumb drive. So until I get a router or if I don't get one, I have to work around that inconvenience. I don't do much printing online but still... I'd like to be able to print a job application receipt or pornographic image if I want. As far as the other features, how the hell should I know? I told you I just got it. If its speed wows me, maybe I'll come back in a few weeks and kick it another star. And if routers aren't too expensive, I in fact get one, and network setup isn't too complicated, I'll kick it up two stars.Day 2 follow up:Come to find out, Brother customer support doesn't know Jack Shtick about wireless networking. I can print while still connected to the internet after all. It appears as though I just need to connect to the printer network before initiating my internet connection. I'm still pissed Brother had me all worked up over nothing, pricing routers and carrying on...
